Looking for the best pocket knife for EDC? The Benchmade 535 Bugout is perfect for all of life’s adventures, and the new KnifeCenter Exclusive Battlewash™ Bugout is the best version yet. This slim, ultralight folding knife features Benchmade’s signature AXIS Lock for fast action and reliable safety, and S30V steel in a black cerakote or satin finish for long-lasting sharpness.
First appearing on the KnifeCenter Exclusive Bugout, Benchmade’s Battlewash™ handles emulate the stonewashed look so popular as a blade finish, creating a rustic, “broken-in” style that instantly looks right at home next to your most prized gear. The Grivory material used is lightweight and strong, cutting down on unnecessary bulk. There is no need to buy custom handle scales with this knife. It is perfect right out of the box!
S30V Stainless Steel
The first modern steel ever developed exclusively for the cutlery industry, CPM-S30V steel is created with the particle metallurgy process for a microscopically uniform grain structure. What this means for the end-user is a steel that will hold an edge exceptionally well. S30V has taken its place as a top choice for folding pocket knives for bringing high performance to a relatively affordable price point.
Drop Point Blade
Widely considered to be the most versatile blade shape in existence, the drop point is perfect for all things EDC, utility, camping, hiking/backpacking, hunting, and even tactical roles. The KnifeCenter Exclusive Battlewash™ Benchmade Bugout blade features a high flat grind for efficient slicing that is perfect for cutting cardboard, opening packages, and even a bit of food prep.
Benchmade’s signature AXIS Lock has been turning heads and winning fans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its function from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forward and back in a slot, extending to both sides of the knife. It engages a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it is opened, using springs to keep it wedged solidly in place for reliable and secure lockup.
Deep Carry Pocket Clip
A deep carry pocket clip enables you to carry the knife discreetly, with only a hint of the knife handle sticking up above the hem of your pocket. The blackened finish holds up well to scratches throughout daily use, and it is reversible for right or left-handed carry.
Dual Thumb Studs
Thumb studs enable easy one-handed opening of the blade. An awesome red anodized color pops nicely against the black color, and coordinated red barrel spacers tie everything together.

Video Review of the new Benchmade Battlewash™ Bugout
Our customers love the Benchmade Bugout, and have published some amazing reviews!
Extremely light weight and thin for ease of carry. Razor sharp with excellent edge retention. Don’t listen to the guy who complained about the handles, they are very robust.

This is my first Benchmade knife I’ve ever owned. I own many many knives and this Bugout really surprised me once actually in hand. I wish I bought this knife when it first came out. It's so nice, I don't even want to use it. I will prolly have to buy another and save one for my collection. One of my favorites I own now. I wrote this review not having owned it more than a day.
EDC from Illinois
I've had dozens of different edc knives. This one is the best.Very light, very durable and extreme quality.
I purchased this knife as a hiking/EDC knife. This thing came scalpel sharp out of the box. Benchmade does an awesome job with their S30V steel. It holds an edge for a long time. Even after 6 hours of hammering on this knife, it is still able to shave hair.

What is a Cerakote Finish?
Cerakote is a ceramic-based finish that is often applied to knife blades and metal parts, as well as many other applications by a wide range of industrial manufacturers. This coating enhances the parts with higher abrasion and wear resistance and additional protection against corrosion. The KnifeCenter Exclusive Battlewash™ Benchmade Bugout is available with a bare metal satin finish or with a black Cerakote blade finish for added durability.
What is the blade material and is it hard to sharpen?
The blade on the Benchmade Bugout is made with S30V steel. With a little practice, we have found that S30V takes a moderate amount of effort to sharpen, but with the right gear, most people have no problem maintaining a good edge.
