My name is Jim Skelton, and I'm just an average, everyday knife lover. I began reviewing custom knives on YouTube in late 2011, and never dreamed of trying to make a knife of my own. Through the years as I've reviewed custom knives, I have been fortunate to become friends with a number of notable makers, and I've learned a lot through conversations with them. Learning from their successes, and their failures. Seeing how hard they work, and the many obstacles they've needed to overcome to create their knives left me believing that I couldn't do it myself.
Luckily my mentor, Mr. Jerry Moen, an accomplished knifemaker as well as a director in the Knife Guild, talked me into trying my hand at it under his tutelage. Thanks to his guidance, I have begun making my own custom knives, and I hope to make knives that people enjoy as much as I've enjoyed in my time as a collector.
Every knife I make presents a new challenge and a new batch of mistakes that I will make. The fun, at least for me, is to correct those mistakes and learn from them. As time goes on, and I make fewer and fewer mistakes, I will take myself up to the next level in order to make all-new mistakes. And hope to overcome them as well.
Every knife is handmade in my hometown of Dallas Texas. I do my own stock removal and do my best to offer a wide variety of material options as well as finishes. I try to challenge myself with every build, so I won't repeat a design 100% very often.
