ArtisanCutlery S Waistline
So to be honest; I had maybe kinda sorta heard about flipper knives before seeing an article about this company trying to change the world with their knives and business model. Using it as a good excuse to buy a new knife for gardening/yardwork I went for it. I chose the orange handle so that if I left if it in the grass or garden it would stand out and be easy to find. They fulfilled that desire immediately upon arrival. The orange stands out well. I couldn't believe this knife though, the flipper works so well! So fast and smooth, easy to open with the lightest flick. Solid lockup. I sat there and flipped that knife open over and over and over marveling that I had been missing out on "Flipper" knives. The knife has nice G-10 scales, full liners with a liner lock and the stonewashed blade is marked with the serial number, D2, and CHINA. I know there are all kinds of wonder steels out there now but when I was in my 20's I used to help out at the family machine shop and D2 was considered one of the best and hardest tool steels at the time. I remember spending long hours trying to grind and cut that stuff. UGHI was dubious that this was really D2. The beautiful slim little knife blade came sharp, but not wicked sharp the way I like them to be. ( side bonus of machine shop years-learning how to sharpen knives) Stand back husband-I got this. If this ain't D2 it sure as hell is a kissing cousin to it. This is some hard steel formed into a beautiful slim knife that looks elegant and functions without a flaw. I liked my new garden knife so much that I ordered another in black for my purse. I trust my life to this knife every time I go out. All this for about $65. Just writing this makes me want to order another
