Description

AO2TITANTIBCS: Titan Begleri, Crude Country

Aroundsquare AO2

The Titan Begleri from Aroundsquare is precision machined from grade five titanium. It features an innovative "gumdrop" bead design unlike anything else on the market, with a domed top for very smooth play, and a straight, knurled barrel for superior control. It is extremely durable and very well weighted, and the bead design plays, feels, and looks amazing. The Titans were initially designed as a high end, titanium begleri, and were followed shortly by a more economical aluminum version. This Crude Country includes two black Shinobi and two Business Class Gold PVD coated versions of the original Titan titanium begleri.

The Titan design is the result of months of development, multiple prototypes, and hundreds of hours of play testing with feedback from players all around the world. The design has been specifically engineered and refined to deliver very smooth play in all styles, without compromises in size or shape that would affect technical tricks.

Both the titanium Titans and the aluminum AL Sport series are available in a "natty" natural metal finish, as well as colored options. The colored titanium versions are coated through a process called physical vapor deposition (PVD), which provides a very robust finish that stands up very well to extended use and drops. The aluminum version is anodized, which helps to give the surface metal a reasonable degree of scratch resistance, and allows for brilliant color options.

They are extremely durable and very well weighted, and the bead design plays, feels, and looks amazing. The original Titans are made from grade five titanium (the strongest commercial grade), measure 0.75" x 0.75" (19 mm x 19 mm), and weigh in at 0.60 ounces (17 g) per bead. The aluminum Titan AL Sport series is 0.79" x 0.79" (20 mm by 20 mm), and around 0.46 ounces (13 g) per bead. Both versions come with several extra strings, a canvas carry bag, an info card, and a slick little gift box.

About the PVD Coating

Titanium can be anodized like aluminum, but the range of colors is limited, and the anodized finish is similar in durability to that of anodized aluminum. Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating is a process that creates a much more robust coloring. In addition, because titanium is much harder than aluminum, scratches and nicks are less likely to show up. In general, the PVD coatings "age" more gracefully than anodized aluminum.

Aroundsquare works to identify and use the best available materials and processes, but all colors are prone to wear after extended use and drops. Players literally beat these beads against each other for hours each day. The colorings are not painted on, and do not "chip", but they are very thin, and will show scratches and nicks over time, especially if dropped on rough surfaces like concrete.

Colors may not be exactly as shown and look different in different lighting. There may be slight blemishes, and some are lighter or darker than others. They've manually pulled out any significant flaws in their quality control process but didn't concern themselves with minor discolorations, because once they are out of the box you're going to be hammering them and dropping them. Right?
