Bark River Knives

Bark River specializes in cutting tools for outdoorsmen and others who need real performance in the field. They use a blend of traditional/contemporary designs and styles to get a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also ultra-functional.

The JX4 Bushbat was designed by Chris Tanner, AKA preparedmind01. It's a purpose built everyday carry knife that also incorporates some bushcraft and combat karambit aspects as well. The ergonomic shape allows it to work for nearly all hand sizes and perform any task. It can skin, slice, feather, chop, split, notch, and everything in between with its deep bellied blade. The pinky ring allows you to use the knife in the reverse grip in a tactical encounter or supremely securely during normal cutting tasks.

Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.

Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Materials, Handle Material, Weight, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: None
Excellent lil knife
This is an awesome little knife, it rides on your belt like it's not there, the sheath sits nicely on your hip, it is reasonably good quality and has a magnet stitched into it to aid with retention not that it really needs extra help. The knife it's self is a pleasure to handle, I've used it mainly for dressing small game such as rabbits and a bit of track clearing. The sweeping curve of the blade is a bit of a change for me but actually works really well for taking rabbits apart. It's quickly become my favourite fixed blade knife because of how nicely it sits in the hand and the overall design of the knife. If I'd known there was a version with higher end steel I would have probably picked that one up instead, however I'll probably get that one as well beacause that's how much I like this knife. The overall fit and finish is good enough to be happy with but not perfect (I'm a lil fussy), the edge out of the box was ok but let's be honest pretty much any knife from the factory is gonna need a tickle up. It does take a wicked edge and even though it's not premium steel it's disassembled multiple rabbits and hacked a path through some flax and with a light stropping was hair popping sharp again.
