Quality construction
For a bali it's a sturdy unit. The bearing pivots offer zero handle slop. As a flip it's a little bulky through the fingers and it is short lacking the extra handle length for confident Chaplin's. The blade tang sticks out and has a tendency to pinch during rollovers. The latch is loose and interferes with the blade path so an o ring stop is a good addition. The handles open smooth and swing easy. I'm not really complaining about these things, they are just characteristics of this knife. There are better designed flipping Bali's but if I could EDC a butterfly I would carry this.

Actually Awesome!
First off this is my first real Bali, I had a ccc one when I was a kid but never flipped it nor understood a purpose for them. Now years later I see all the cool stuff people could do with them and I decided I wanted one but not a cheapo. I'm already a pretty big knife guy so I knew how pricey pocket knives can be, but everything I read was that if you weren't spending $200 or more it probably was crap. So I heard from some videos about the Bradley Kimura and how bear and son ruined them and how bear and son/ops was just not worth it in general. So I look into the Brs balis and of course after 6 months still haven't seen one in stock but I check frequently and saw this bear ops vii under new arrivals and thought I would try it. I was so blown away with how fun it is to just open and close and mess with it, then I was hooked and decided too find an Eos serpent online and got the antique green one less than a week later. I really like the eos but I can say I like this as much or better for about $60-80 less! I knew the bear ops would feel different since it was on bearings but OMG it's a big one! But since it is bear and son there is two slight cons with the knife. 1) My particular one had a tiny flake of the black coating missing in one of the angle divets on the handle, but since its tumbled and I'm going to carry it, I said it was fine and not worth an exchange. 2) This is a little tougher and the main reason it only gets 4 stars is that the latch can hit the blade. It may be able to be removed but I haven't completely disassembled the Bali yet, so I have a rubber band holding the latch straight. But I still think that it's one of the smoothest ones for that price and bear ops deserves a win on this one!

Better than expected
Okay, I have to admit I was a little hesitant in purchasing this balisong because Bear and Son (and Bear Ops) does not have the best reputation within the balisong community. But I was curious about this one. I am happy curiosity got the better of me as this balisong turns out to be better than expected right out of the box. Tolerances are quite good. The handles swing freely and smoothly and have practically zero handle play. The blade is razor sharp and has a nice shape and finish to it. This knife will make for a good EDC as the finish will hide any wear. All in all, the overall quality is quite good and a good value as other USA made, titanium handled, bearing pivot, 154CM stainless bladed balisongs are not going to be found at this price point. This is a step in the right direction for Bear and Son.
