BO131264: Boker Saga Paring Knife Satin
Boker

With the Boker Saga series of kitchen knives, custom made in the Boker Manufactory in Solingen, Germany, Boker closes the gap and raise the topic "cutting in the kitchen" to a whole new level.

Boker's decades-long experience in manufacturing outdoor knives and the creativity of Danish custom knifemaker Jesper Voxnaes combine to present the concept and design of the Saga, setting a new standard in cutting and ergonomics. The transfer of the design into the culinary sector guarantees that working with the Saga will become a unique event.

The slightly curved (rolling) handles are made of indestructible G10, which is resistant to temperatures and humidity. With the first touch, the ergonomics become apparent. Every arc, every sweep in the line adapts to a point of the hand and communicates absolute control and an outstanding cutting experience. The wide, dovetailed end of the handle, found in the larger models, provides additional grip safety. The high strength is based on the full tang construction, which reaches from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle.

For the perfect cutting performance, a flat grind is used, along with the selection of the 440C stainless steel, which far exceeds the edge holding capability and corrosion resistance of conventional stainless steels. These ultra modern kitchen knives from Solingen are provided with a fine satin finish. This special grinding method upgrades the existing cutting performance, as well as providing extreme resistance against scratches, with the microstructure of the finish.

Scary Sharp
I've been using Wüsthof and Henckels kitchen knives for years, but started getting tired of sharpening them all the time. I decided to give these Bokers a try since the steel is a known quantity, and became an instant fan.The knife came scary sharp out of the box, and stayed that way for months. My wife is notoriously hard on blades, and I typically have to sharpen the Wüsthofs after every use. This is not the case with these 440C blades. She's been abusing them for over a year now, and I've only had to do a minor touch-up. Afterward they're scary sharp again. The handles are also very, very nice. Very comfortable, easy to clean, and provide excellent grip.I'm extremely happy with these knives, and I can't ever see myself going back to Henkles or Wüsthof. They might not be as stainless as the others, but the comfort and edge retention completely blows them away.
