Buck Knives

Introducing the TOPS/Buck Collaboration

The CSAR-T is a full size, working folding knife that was produced in collaboration between Buck Knives and TOPS Knives. It shows the best characteristics of both companies. It has the stout, solid engineering of the TOPS brand and the meticulous manufacturing of Buck. The CSAR-T features a hex opening that can take a bit/socket attachment. Attachments are not included, only the opening that can take one, but standard tools should work. It also comes with a high quality Nylon sheath. Handle measure 5" and the pocket clip is reversible.

Buck describes this item as follows:

As we have done successfully before, we have forged a collaboration with TOPS Knives, blending the talents of two Idaho knife makers to produce a series of knives designed to be reliable tools for those who protect and serve our country. It's the ideal blend of a highly respected custom knife company with our ability to produce custom-production knives, making them affordable to a far wider market. The TOPS/Buck CSAR-T (Combat Search & Rescue Tool) is the first result, a liner-lock with tough G10 handles and a blade that is a 3 1/2" modified tanto, made of 0.175" thick, high-grade steel.

Cons: Weight
Over Built In The Right Ways
The blade design and material is excellent for abusive tasks. The handle material and texture are a fantastic feature and the 3 steel bolsters are very encouraging. The knife is also equipped with the ideal bronze bushings that are extremely smooth. The one potential downside is the pocket clip, it may actually be to strong. It almost feels as if the clip will tear your pocket, but that may be desirable as it certainly wont fall out.An excellent knife and high value.

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Lock Type, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Handle Feel, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
I've never had an issue with Bucks' 420 HC steel but I wanted to try this Crucible. It seems to be VERY tough but I haven't had to sharpen it yet.The knife is built like a brick s___house and you can clearly see the TOPS influence. It's a hundred bucks but I think it's worth it.

Pros: Handle Material, Lock Type, Lock Ease of Use, Weight, Blade Material, Sheath, Handle Feel, Overall Quality
Cons: Weight, Pocket Clip, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, None
heavy duty and solid
First the cons: The pocket clip is freakishly strong, too strong. Almost impossible to use. The blade grind is off a bit on one side. Where the tanto line is, it doesn't match where the edge is. There is a hump at the back of the blade edge that hinders sharpening. I will get it sharpened off but with 154CM it will be a pain. It was barely sharp out of the box.To flick it open i have to use my wrist even after oiling and pivot adjustment.PROS:Thick 154CM Paul Boss heat treated blade. Heavy duty in every way. G10 scales are grippy but not overly so (just right). Strong positive lock up. This knife should stand up to a lifetime of hard use. Feels like a fixed blade when in use. If you need a good work horse knife and don't mind so weight ,this is it.The cons are just nit pick stuff. This knife is built like a tank and should last like one. I would buy it again.Super fast shipping by Knife Center!
