Handy kitchen knife
Although this is supposedly "just a tomato knife," we use this for all kinds of kitchen tasks where a good, thin, serrated blade does the job, including trimming vegetables or slicing hard cheese. We've had the wood-handled version of this same knife for a few years now, but when they finally released this synthetic handled one (and at a great KnifeCenter price, we had to get one.Case's wood handled model is good, but the handle is rather small, thin, and not really ergonomic, plus you can't let it sit wet for any length of time. This version's synthetic plastic handle is way, way better—fits the hand and feels way more secure when cutting. And yes, it does a fantastic job of slicing tomatoes, too. The serrations bite right through the skin and the sharpness makes is easy to do tissue-thin slices. I'll go ahead and admit that as with all serrated knives though, it won't exactly be easy to resharpen as a regular blade when the need arises, but on the other hand given the rather low price, it might just be simpler to buy a new one in a few years.
