Case Knives
W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. is proud to announce the Case XX CG01, which debuted at BLADE Show 2018 in Atlanta on June 1st. This is the first Case knife to be manufactured by Southern Grind, multi-platinum Grammy award-winning artist Zac Brown’s Georgia-based metal shop.

These knives feature a manually-operated flipper-style blade extension that allows the user to more easily open the knife. The collection of Case XX CG01 Flipper knives come in both tanto and drop point blade styles made of S35VN steel, a high-performance alloy known for its quality, wear resistance and toughness. The knives feature a stonewashed blade accompanied by a red or a black anodized handle, a lanyard hole and compact pocket clip.

The knife's name, CG01, is an acronym which symbolizes the collaborative spirit of this project. "C" for Case, "G" for Southern Grind, and "01" signifies the first such project between these two influential American manufacturers.

Zac Brown stated, "Our philosophy as a company is to build... tools that add value every day. Our approach to making knives is complementary to theirs (Case). I love knowing that I’m supporting an American company and we're excited to align with them."

Cons: None
After having carried a Southern Grind Spider Monkey for the past two years and owning a Bad Monkey and a Penguin, I shouldn't be surprised by the build quality of this knife, but I am. Okay, when I first took it out of the box and opened it, I was a little worried because the first two times I tried to flip it open it only opened about half way, but on the third try, it flipped all the way open and locked in place. Every time after that. it flipped right open. Seems to work better push buttoning it than light switching it for me, but it works both ways now. Extremely sharp out of the box, and S35vn is my favorite steel for EDC. It holds an edge a good while and is still easy to resharpen. Point on this knife is very sharp, don't ask how I know. Handle is comfortable with no hot spots for me, and grip is good. Lockup is god and tight at about 25% with no blade play in any direction. Only thing I might change is to add a thumb stud, just because I like to have options. Will it replace my Spider Monkey? No. Because I think it is the perfect EDC for me. But if Southern Grind ever made a Spider Monkey flipper with a thumb stud, that's a different question. Thanks To Case and Southern Grind for getting together to make this knife. Thanks to knife Center for their as usual great service.
