Description
CISH2200: Radaelli Sabre
CAS Hanwei

The Radaelli Sabre features a fully-ridged guard with the classic reinforcing ring common to the Radaelli style. The high-carbon steel blade is very flexible towards the tip. A replacement blade (OH2264) is available.

One of the rapidly growing arts within historical fencing societies is that of sabre fencing in the late 19th century Italian style, originating with fencing masters who were employed to train mounted troops in the effective use of the military sabre. The Milanese fencing master Guiseppe Radaelli, is credited with starting the development of this style, while Salvatore Pecoraro introduced changes and refinements which resulted in the technique finally adopted for sabre at the Military Masters School in Rome. The hilt designs developed by Radaelli and Pecoraro have been reproduced in the Paul Chen fencing sabers, with stainless steel guards and wire-wrapped sharkskin-pattern grips. The high-carbon flex-tempered steel blades closely follow the proportions of the period and are button-tipped for safety. The blade and hilt of the “Hutton” sabre are closer to the style of the true military sabre.

Value for money there is nothing like it!
We train Radaelli Italian fencing and do boutin with itPro- This is light and fairly lively with good hand protection- The design that is true to Radaelli's design (see the book).- Some blades have broken - but that happens for all. It is quite robust and had sparks literally flying in a free bout last week. - lighter weight (as intended) makes fast and tires the arm less than others Con- Blade possibly a little at the shorter end Blade true to style but light if tournamenting against other one handed swords like heavy Regenyei sabres, side swords, backswords. Will be faster but you would have to have very strong blocks- Not my favourite blade as I have other more refined - but that cost much more!Overall great for getting into Italian duelling and with quick delivery means you won't have excessive wait to participate like with some other suppliers and very reasonable cost.

Fantastic for the price
This is a very good piece for practicing Northern Italian classical sabre styles. The hilt and guard are very accurate, the weight is appropriate, as is the balance. The blade is a newer model with a temper that doesn't excessively flex when going for a flank cut (like the older Hanwei models.) The only downside is that the blade is not curved, which makes some sforzi impossible to do. However, the get a quality curved blade, you would need to move to a much higher price point. All in all, good piece for the intended purposes: a durable, fairly accurate reproduction piece for starting to learn N. Italian sabre.

Radaeilli Saber Significant Improvement Over Older Blads
The new style of blade integrating a slightly deeper blade and blunted tip is a vast improvement over earlier blunt tip sabers. The blade and bell offer a faster action and recovery, while still providing good protection for the hand and wrist. Wish I'd had this when I fenced in college.
