CKFSWITCH: Geoff "Tuff Knives" Blauvelt Switch
Custom Knife Factory
Custom Knife Factory might sound like an ambiguous name but it's definitely one worth remembering. Their knives are mid-tech by definition but the quality definitely borders on full custom. They have a CNC machine shop in China that does some of the leg work but all the hand fit and finishing is done in-house in their Moscow shop. They use top-of-the-line materials made in the USA and designs from some of the most talented knife designers in the world.
The Switch is the long-awaited CKF collaboration with Geoff Blauvelt AKA "Tuff Knives", out of Pennsylvania, USA. Geoff rose to stardom customizing people's knives. He would take production and custom knives and modify them further to meet his customer's needs and wants. He could do amazing things from day one, and he quickly became one of the best in the business at customizing knives. After a while, he decided to make a design of his own from start to finish and the TuffToad was born. It was a tactical friction folder that he has since licensed to Boker, dubbed the War Toad, and it got Geoff his start with some of the most prominent manufacturers in the industry.
The Switch is one of Geoff's oldest, most popular designs that he still produces to this day. It's taken many forms over the years — with different handle and blade shapes — but this is the way it was always meant to be. A clean drop point blade transitioning smoothly into a chamfered titanium handle, with a single large finger groove (and textured carbon fiber inlays) for grip. It's very ergonomic and extremely slender so it carries very well in the pocket and stays out of the way until needed. It's also one of the best-looking knives we've seen in years, as Tuff Knives generally are, which makes it an easy piece to warm up to and we highly recommend you give it a shot. In terms of overbuilt, stylish EDC knives, there's nothing better!

A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Powdered metal developed for knife blades which provides good corrosion resistance and very high hardness for excellent wear resistance during hard use cutting.
Semi-Custom or Mid-Tech knives are knives produced by a process in which the designer has more direct--but not complete--involvement; parts of these knives may still have been made by others.
