Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, Blade Sharpness
Nice knife
This is a well balanced, sturdy knife with a comfortable handle. I have small hands and wanted a knife with certain specifications. It had to be full tang, high carbon steel with a 90 degree spine for throwing sparks and a shorter blade. I'm using this knife for heavier bushcrafting tasks and needed one small enough to handle and yet sturdy enough to take a beating. This knife fits the bill. I do have a couple complaints, though. First off, only the forward half of the blade had any sharpness to it. The rest was very dull. Also, I know many people like the leather sheath, but I don't. It's one more thing to care for and maintain and can disintegrate quickly in wet or humid environments. I would prefer something synthetic. Lastly, the literature it came with said not to store it in the sheath. I'm assuming that is because it is carbon and can rust. If I keep it in my BOB when not in use, it would be nice to store it in the sheath. Would oiling it and storing it in the sheath work?

Pros: Blade Sharpness, Sheath/Scabbard, Handle Material, Blade Material, Materials, Weight, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: None
I have owned many knives. This knife IMHO is one of the best knives I have ever owned. For a production knife, the blade was the sharpest I have ever received. I've owned over 100 knives, sold most or gave many away. The quality is as good as some of the knives I've paid 3-4 times as much. Knife fits great in the sheath, and the sheath is high quality. This will be my main knife, no need to look anymore. Very happy-I can't believe the price.

Perfect Piece Of Steel!
This is a kind of knife for EVERYTHING, I think. Of course - it's rather unsuitable for fine cutting of onion, but skinning is good, carving the meat very good, preparing splinters for any kind of fire is excellent....The right knife for the right survivors! 1095 steel is very good - durable sharpness, but also easy to maintenace. 2 - 3 moves on sharpening steel... and the edge is like a razor again. The leather sheath is perfect, no reservation about it. Buy this piece - you'll be satisfied!
