CR2365: Lucas Burnley Designed Obake Skoshi
It's compact in size but still big on attitude. The Obake Skoshi everyday carry knife has the same uniquely etched blade, cord wrapped ray-skin style handle and cool factor as its larger cousin. Proof once again that looks can be deceiving.

Designed by Lucas Burnley of Albuquerque, NM, the Obake Skoshi is an artful combination of a classic knife style built with modern-day materials and techniques. It's another example of Burnley's belief that knives are a personal expression of independence. And this one makes a statement when you bring it out for action.

A throwback to a classic Japanese design, it features a full tang fixed blade with a unique gray titanium nitride finish that's acid-etched to give each knife a distinct look. It's like he made the blade exclusively for you to throw down when the need for utility comes up.

The handle has a katana style nylon cord wrap over a black faux ray-skin for an exceptional and secure all-weather grip. When storms or trouble are brewing, you'll be ready.

The sheath of the Obake is made from glass-reinforced nylon that provides consistent retention even in humid environments. A paracord lanyard on the sheath is designed to attach to your belt loop and keep the sheath in place when you deploy the knife. A skull bead adds a not-so-subtle accent to the paracord lanyard.

Great little EDC fixed blade
Function follows form quite naturally with this little EDC blade. I've been carrying the CRKT Obake Skoshi with me everyday for a solid month and frequently find excuses to put it to use. I work in an office -- business attire -- and it slides well into a front pocket and goes unnoticed when not in use. It's small enough that, even as a fixed blade, when I do use it during the work day, it still goes unnoticed cradled in my hand. When not at the office, I've been carrying it still in my front pocket but with the lanyard through my belt and have found this method of carry very easy for quick, single-handed extraction. Even lounging around the house on a lazy weekend day it's not bothersome, and that's really saying something for a non-folding knife. In terms of easy of carry, concealment, and practicality, it's an ideal EDC fixed blade for me. The cutting edge was sharp when it arrived and I've since put an extremely fine edge on it, which it holds for a long time even through heavy cardboard cutting, small food prep, and general use. Even though it's really a three-finger grip, the knife sits securely in my hand with no concern about slipping onto the blade. Know that this is a small knife, but that's where its great usefulness comes in. It's small enough to carry around town but sturdy enough to carry onto (and off of) the trail for light work. Add to all this the design and it has fast become one of my favorites. Let's face it; it's kind of a sexy knife. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a small fixed blade to carry pretty much all the time.
