CR2480: 2480 Akari
CRKT

Custom knifemaker Lucas Burnley has designed this Akari model for Columbia River. It's a remarkably comfortable little fixed blade that really feels like an extension of your arm. The 2.83" blade is made from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a very cool acid etched finish and hollow ground upswept shape. The 3.55" cord wrapped handle feels amazing and secure in one's grip and the neon green ray skin pattern underneath provides adequate traction and looks superb. Lucas Burnley creates similar knives at the custom level but this one is a fantastic deal. It's thin, light, utilitarian in shape, very nicely made and very affordable. Includes a friction fit glass reinforced nylon sheath and j hooks to attach the knife to your belt.

With an attractive cord-wrapped handle, this Lucas Burnley-designed fixed blade everyday carry knife pleases the eye and hand. Meanwhile, an acid-etched blade whips through tasks with precision and ease. Throughout it all, you'll be enjoying every utility minute of it.

Akari designer Lucas Burnley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, strives to create knives with an unparalleled level of design and function, using ever-evolving techniques and materials. He takes this approach with each of his knives, applying a combination of brutal simplicity and practicality, and a high regard for both function and visual appeal. The Akari hits on all these points, and leaves nothing to be desired. This knife is an impressive blend of visually intriguing lines and the Neo Japanese inspiration often found in Burnley's work.

The acid-etched blade, with its upswept style makes the Akari very friendly and easy to use. While the black and neon green patterned handle provides a unique aesthetic, with unmatched grip and cutting efficiency. Both will have you taking your time and enjoying your cutting tasks.

This knife looks and feels so good as it's getting the job done, you may almost forget you're on the job.

Wonderful EDC
EDC: I like how this knife sits in a pocket. It dangles down from the belt and doesn’t take up much room. It’s not too “girthy” in the pocket; there’s still room in a regular jeans pocket for a wallet and stuff. The handle is grippy and comfortable. The knife and sheath are lightweight but tough. The blade shape and size are excellent for a multitude of tasks. And... I dig the style. :)All in all, a wonderful knife!

Anthony -- uinsheathing secrets
Anthony, if you're still haven't figured out your sheathing problems, remember, it's your knife and your sheath, so you can do anything you want to it. Don't hesitate to take some sandpaper or an emery board to the sheath and gently remove material from the little bumps that retain the knife in the sheath. I've done that to my Obake Skoshi and one of my Obakes. The sheaths are manufactured to spec en masse, and the handles are wrapped by hand, so sometimes there will be slight errors Better too tight than too loose; you can always loosen it up.Anywho, these are very nice little knives, excellent quality in proportion to the $$$ spent. Compact, well designed, sharp and easy to sharpen. On top of that, they are works of art! If you like this style and try to buy another knife that looks anything like this, you will have to pay big $$$ to get a custom one. Well done, CRKT!
