CR5370: 5370 Terrestrial, Designed by Eric Ochs

Eric Ochs is one of the premier custom knifemakers in the industry today. He researches his blade and handle materials thoroughly to ensure they can withstand the abuse he designs his knives to take. Almost all of Eric's designs are created for useful simplicity and balance while providing superior grip and control.

Ground control to your to-do list: Ever find yourself looking for extra chores just so you can pull out your knife and put it to work? Us too. Designer Eric Ochs feels the same. Meet the Terrestrial tactically-inspired everyday carry knife. Time to hit the ground running.

When he set to work on this one, Eric Ochs of Sherwood, Oregon was determined to deck it out with details. That's just what he did with this otherworldly everyday carry, starting with the eye-catching blade shape. Though the basic form stays true to a traditional spear point, the blade touts a harpoon feature on the spine, adding serious depth and elevating its utility by providing a solid thumb rest. The 3.355" stainless steel blade is polished with a satin finish for excellent corrosion resistance.

The durable, G10 handles stand up to the blade's high aesthetic with a symmetrical carved pattern. It's a true workhorse: the handles house a solid locking liner and smooth IKBS technology. Leveraging a ball bearing-based pivot mechanism allows the blade to deploy quickly and with reduced friction thanks to precision-engineered stainless steel spheres. No spring-assist needed. Custom knife designers Flavio Ikoma and Rick Lala invented the IKBS system that sets lubed ball bearings into the folding knife pivot. The result is rapid blade deployment that is smooth and fast. The Terrestrial: ready to take on a world full of dirty jobs.

Superb pocket flipper
I own 4 of these. I carry one to work and one in my civies. The other 2 go in my EDC's.The flipper action is quick and smooth with a solid openning click. Does not wobble at all. Feels good in the hand with finger notches for a good grip. Very sharp out of the box.Love the blade style, spear point.Only con would be the liner lock is a little difficult to get to for one hand operation. Doesn't extend out far enough for easy access. The handle should be trimmed back a little like the "Ken Onion HI JINX" is.

Had to grab
Saw this a week or so ago in the CRKT 2018 models and was immediately drawn to it. Such a great utilitarian blade shape with great geometry. I'm a big CRKT fan so I may be a bit biased but now that it has arrive i took it out and gave her a flip. Love the action, solid lock up. Razor sharp out of the box. Spine is very thick and the grinds along the false edge and cut out on the backside near the pivot obviously help balance what is already a blade heavy design quite nicely. You feel the heft and I'm sure this can take some good hard use. The flipper is very responsive after an appropriate snap and blade locks securely. Overall I love the aesthetics of this, looks very aggressive spear point geometry and after having several cut back flippers with some jimping on the spine the lack there of on this model is appreciated and still gives you great room to guide the edge with your thumb on the back.
