CRM1603S: M16-03S Classic
There's nothing like a classic, especially when it honors one. The M16-03S Classic is more than just a re-issue based off the original design of one of CRKT's most popular every day carry blades. It's a fitting tribute to its founder, Kit Carson, who passed away in the fall of 2014.

Based off the original M16 design, these tactically inspired knives are ready to conquer your civilian tasks. They feature an AUS 8 stainless steel spear point blade that's tough, holds an edge well and is easier to sharpen in the field than tool steel. It looks great out of the box but even better in action.

Use the Carson Flipper to quickly deploy the blade. It's ready to be called into duty for your daily tasks. Meanwhile a LAWKS manual safety feature sets a pin against the locking liner to hold the liner in place. You're good to go through anything with the M16-03S Classic.

Kit was a winner of countless awards and was a staple of CRKT since their very beginning. These classic designs live on in tribute to his legacy and contribution to the knife community and the industry as a whole.

If you want a knife that will be as timeless as the man who designed it, secure your very own M16-03S Classic.

THE classic M-16
This IS the “classic” CRKT Carson M-16. I owned a partially serrated version of this knife and carried it daily for years. I added a Kershaw OD-1 to my rotation and came to love the right-hand, tip-up (default) carry of the OD-1. Then I realized that the CRKT M-16 Classic offers tip-up/down, left/right carry. The best of all worlds.I eventually lost my first M-16 helping my father move and replaced it with an M-21-02G with the G-10 scales. The M-21 is a great knife but the G-10 scales are hard on the pocket material of my pants. I finally got around to replacing my M-16 with this “Classic” without the serrations (I have found that I prefer a non-serrated knife for most purposes). This knife actually “carries” much smaller than one might expect. The rigid aluminum scale on one side (the non liner-lock side) means that there is no need for a steel liner on that side. This makes for a surprisingly light and slim knife for the length. Granted, if you live in an area that limits blade length, then this might not be the knife for you. If such restrictions do not apply to you, then definitely consider this knife.I admit that the Sandvik 14c28N steel of my Kershaw OD-1 is better than the AUS-8 of the CRKT M-16 Classic, but the differences are not great. The CRKT is easy to sharpen and I have never rolled an edge on any knife that is made of AUS-8.In short, this is a great EDC knife with very decent steel. The pocket clip options make it a universal carry option for anyone. The grey color means that it blends in to almost any wardrobe choice. At the end of the day, I was glad that I was able to replace my favorite EDC knife of all times. I recommend that you buy this knife while it is still available.
