Cold Steel
The classic San Mai III fixed blades have been a Cold Steel staple for decades. Coveted by martial artists and knife collectors alike, they are much in demand, but these high-end luxury fixed blades are only produced in exclusive limited edition runs each year.

Therefore, we're proud to introduce the Nightfall Series of Japanese styled blades made from American CPM 3V high performance powdered steel - with the same design and attention to detail as the much loved San Mai classics but with the addition of this premium American super steel, we're excited to usher in a new era of high performance fixed blades for the discerning knife owner.

Each of these tough, reliable blades is DLC (diamond like) coated to a rich inky black finish. Highly scratch and wear resistant, and honed to an edge that you would expect on the keenest of razor blades, they are not only super sharp, but built to last!

Awesome knife; Horrible sheath
This is a review of a knife, not a sheath. The knife is everything it is advertised to be. The knife is manufactured with a 3V blade. It is absolutely dangerously sharp. It arrived with some sort of a generous amount of petroleum grease all over the blade. The fit, and finish are beyond reproach. I love the VERY grippy handle. It's balance is perfect. She has excellent reach with 7 1/2", and her sisters: the 12", 9", and 6" are identical except for the blade lengths. It exudes a most dependable feel. Now, concerning the sheath: POS, period. It took me several minutes to extract the knife. I had to get a flat-head screwdriver, and pry the piece of crap sheath open. I have since purchased a professionally hand made leather sheath for all of my Nighthawks. There is no way to easily take the knife out of the sheath. I'm extremely disappointed in Cold Steel for this issue. To be fair, I did order it from a different site because of wait times, and a 30 buck price difference. Knife Center is always most congenial, and has excellent customer service.

Sturdy Blade & Comfortable Grip
Very thick blade & sturdily built - the only negative thing is that the hole for the retention strap is a little small. That can always be drilled out without compromising the strength or durability of the blade.
