CS20NQX: 20NQX Large Luzon

Cold Steel

Lynn C. Thompson's love of the Filipino Martial Arts inspired him to develop the Luzon Folders. Drawing inspiration from several balisongs in his collection, but functioning as a flipper, the Luzons are a politically correct alternative for those who are unable to legally own balisongs. The Luzon's blades are comprised of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, and expertly hardened to 57-58 Rockwell and feature sharp, strong, points with just enough belly to make them equally useful for cutting and slashing. You'll be dreaming of the Philippines once you experience the Luzon’s bamboo-inspired handles, featuring concave segments that offer countless comfortable grip options. Made of glass-filled nylon (GFN), the Luzon's handles are impervious to the elements, and are unlike any handle Cold Steel has ever made before.

Handsome, budget-friendly, and a breeze to flip open, the Luzons are a formidable choice for those going in harm's way. Offering incomparable levels of safety, they're equipped with a sturdy leaf-spring lock and a (patent-pending) secondary safety mechanism that, when it's engaged is extremely resistant to shock and impact. It will keep your fingers safe even under the worst conditions. Available in two sizes, both feature a lanyard hole and right-hand GFN pocket clip.

My first Cold Steel Knife
The Quality is first rate for the Price! What surprised me,was how easy it flips open for such a large[6"] blade! Some of my smaller "flippers" do not open as easily as the Luzon.

Pros: Handle Feel, None
Cons: Overall Quality, Lock Type, Pocket Clip, Blade Material
Too much lock travel for me.
The Luzon is a massive folder crafted from budget materials.I like the blade and handle design.Alphabet soup steel is what it is.Pocket clip looks incredibly cheap, and not very durable, but at least it’s comfortable, and isn’t going to shred your pockets unless you bend the clip and/or sand the G10 underneath the clip.Opening action is decent, nothing spectacular.I didn’t experience any lock stick, but I did experience lock travel. After 20 flips the lockup has gone from 40% out of box to touching the other side.I contacted the vendor I ordered from and they agreed on a full refund so I returned same day.If CS ever decides to upgrade the Luzon to the triad lock ,and a better quality steel, and pocket clip,I’ll try it out again, but that’s the only way.Looking back I should’ve just gone with another XL Voyager or Vaquero for only $20-25 more. The XL Voyager and Vaquero lineup are MUCH better quality and values for the money.

Nice Knife But with Plastic for Liner Lock
I like the design of the knife, but a major flaw is that it has PLASTIC liners instead of metal liners. This doesn’t seem to bold well for the long lasting durability or safety of the knife. In fact I saw a YouTube testing where the liner did break. Could my knife with the plastic liners be a knock off? I have never seen a knife made with plastic liners. Is there a way I could replace the plastic for metal liners? The plastic gets caught on the blade when trying to close the blade.
