Cold Steel

While on a research trip in Argentina, Cold Steel President Lynn C Thompson had the pleasure of using a solid steel hunting knife by French knifemaker Michel Achez.

He was incredibly impressed by Monsieur Achez's knife, which was both simple in design and astonishingly functional.

Inspired by Michel's work (and with his blessing), Lynn began exploring how to bring this classic hunter to a larger audience.

The Drop Forged Hunter is expertly heat treated and drop forged from 52100 high carbon steel with a Rockwell hardness of 58-59 for superior toughness. Its continuously curved, super-wide blade is both sharp and strong, designed to put in great work in even the most demanding conditions.

With no handle to break or no superfluous parts to rot, crack or get damaged in the field, the Drop Forged Hunter is a no-nonsense hard-working outdoor/hunting knife and survival tool.

Its ergonomic handle, with its integral finger guard deep comfortable trough and lanyard hole offers a very secure and comfortable grip even when wearing thick, heavy workman's gloves.

Supplied with a durable Secure-Ex sheath, the Drop Forged Hunter is sure to be appreciated and valued by real hunters who will marvel at its performance and value for the money.

Cons: None
Great value-for-money, no flaws!
I can't believe what a great knife I've been given for such little money. Haptics, superior material, sharpness, usability, looks - I am totally happy! Don't miss this one!I'm a hopeless Spyderco nut, have sold all non-spydies I once owned except for three. This was the first non-Spyderco purchase in two years. But it was a VERY GOOD DECISION!!!

Great durable knife.
I've used this knife for light camp chores and and some feather sticks. I've also done some light Batoning ( soft 2 inch pine and palmetto bush fronds ) just to see how the edge held up and found no issues. The coating is even and thicker than most with just enough texture to provide a good grip without being too abrasive and the handle is much more comfortable than I thought it would be. The kydex sheath is well made. Overall I have no doubt that this knife can handle more than I'll throw at it in the near future. It would be nice to have the ability to wrap the the handle with para cord, other than that I 'm very impressed.
