Les had an idea for a project where he took out as many of the variables as possible. He kept his designs simple to speed up the manufacturing process and adding value by changing the engineering. This led to Les producing mid-tech knives at an astounding quality level. Chad Nichols of Nichols Damascus caught notice and they've collaborated for a venture they call Defiant 7. Chad supplies some of the best Damascus in the industry while Les manufactures some of the best knives available; it's a match made in heaven and we're the beneficiaries.
This mid-tech Kumu flipper is the first offering from Defiant 7 Knives and is one of those folders you just can't help but love. The action is fantastically smooth riding on caged bearings and the design is lightweight, slim and stout. The detent is strong enough so that when it breaks, the blade flies open just like an automatic knife and locks up tightly. It's made from CTS-XHP stainless steel with a small finger choil, a nice drop point shape and strong black stonewashed finish. The handle is morph pattern milled titanium with an ergonomic shape that locks the design into your hand. It has a simple Torx screw construction with a lanyard hole and titanium backspacer. This is a superb, hard-use folder without any added frills. It's designed to be your every day carry companion and it doesn't get much more rock solid than this.

Semi-Custom or Mid-Tech knives are knives produced by a process in which the designer has more direct--but not complete--involvement; parts of these knives may still have been made by others.
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
This product is USA born and raised.
