DV36830: Olive Wood Straight Razor
DOVO

This model features a full hollow ground 5/8" stainless steel blade with olive wood handles. DOVO Solingen straight razors are some of the finest razors for shaving in the world. They have a centuries-old tradition of fine metalwork and their processes for making straight razors is impeccable. The machinery they use is no longer made and so they have to keep producing these products "the old way." The profile of the blade has to be just right. If you remove too much material, it throws the whole grind off and the razor will never shave correctly. There are few craftsmen qualified to do the finish grinding on these blades and it is difficult for DOVO to keep up with the worldwide demand. Made in Solingen, Germany.

Pros: Overall Quality
Cons: None
Great little razor
The Dovo Barbarossa with olive wood scales is carbon steel, not stainless as advertised, but I knew that before I bought it. It is a great little razor that does not take long at all to get comfortable with. The factory edge is very good, no need to further hone the razor, I just stropped it and shaved with excellent results. It is a small and relatively light razor, the scales are good looking and have the right friction upon deploying the blade. Just keep an eye on the point if you are used to a round one, it can bite you!
