DX4194: Replica Bartholomew Roberts Pirate Scimitar

Also known as "Black Bart" Bartholomew Roberts was an infamous pirate between the years of 1682-1722. After practicing seafaring from a very young age, he joined the crew of the pirate ship "Howell Davis" which would begin his career in piracy. He eventually managed to put together a crew big enough to destabilize the British fleet. Between 1719 and 1722 he mainly attacked areas between America and West Africa. All in all, it is believed that he captured more than 470 ships, which made him the most successful pirate of the golden age of piracy. The rules that he and his crew followed, eventually became the famous "pirate code". His death in 1722 during a naval battle with the "HMS Swallow", closed the period of greatest growth of piracy in America. This reproduction sword features a brass finished metal handle and wide metal blade. The blade features an engraving of a sea serpent and is intentionally unsharpened, making this a great display piece for any part of the house.
