Some Folks Call It a Fillet Knife, …
… I call it a, “swingblade,” ah-huh. I bought this EKA Duo Swingblade to be include in a knife roll set of wilderness butchering tools all in, “I’m-over-here” orange, for forgetful old men. This fillet knife will be part of a 3 piece Kydex fish processing sheath (fillet knife, needle nose pliers, and Svord Iki), all with orange handles. Remove the hook, give ‘em an ice-pick lobotomy, clean ‘em, eat ‘em. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nice, flexible (paramount) Sandvik 12C27 blade. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I can see from the flex that it will perform well. I like the Sandvik 12C27 for a fillet knife for its stain resistance, and it takes an edge well. Arrived fairly sharp, but could take a dressing before use, for sure. The handle is comfortable and ergonomic, and I like the extra length. Swing mechanism works easily/well, and blade lock-up is good. Gut zipper blade seems fine, as well, and would work not only for large fish, but mammals, too. This would make a fine boning knife, also. The sheath is nice, but the knife rattles in it a bit. Nothing that would spook the fish, though. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Putting the knife edge to an angle guide, the EKA Duo Swingblade seems to have about a 15° edge. If you’re like me, and like to dress the blade after every fish, you’ll want to find a dedicated ceramic vee-rod sharpener at 15°. I suppose you could e-mail the manufacturer and find out the exact edge angle degree. I wish manufacturers would include edge bevel angle, as well as grind (hollow, saber, convex, etc.) in their product info. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> EKA Duo Swingblade is a great multi-purpose tool. You get a free Kunglig Hovleverantor (I didn’t know Sweden still had a King), and a 10 year warranty with every knife. Made in Eskilstuna (means: let’s go kill a tuna), Sweden, so, they must know about fishing and fillet knives. A little pricey, but definitely the finest fillet knife I’ve ever owned. You gonna eat dem French fried taters, ah-huh?

Great fillet knife
A very clever design. The button lock is a nice addition. I especially like the very grippy rubber handle. SUPER sharp out of the box, this is a high quality knife.
