Designed by woodcarvers for woodcarvers, Flexcut features flexible blade shafts with razor sharp cutting edges to give woodcarvers maximum control over each cut. Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Ease of Opening, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material, None
Cons: Sheath
Amazing, for my needs.
I'm left handed, and I like to carve walking sticks, small 'idols' and such in situ; where I find a nice stick/log/whatever. This is perfect for me. I also use a Marttiini Arctic Carver and a Condor Pack Golok (as my chopper).Between those three tools, I can make pretty much anything I want in the Bosque. (Yeah, I live in Albuquerque, NM) People even come up to me and watch. The police stepped in at one point, but once they saw what I was doing, we got to talking about knives, haha. Also I've been offered money for my carvings, so...Yeah. That's awesome.Back to the lefty thing, though...The fact that Flexcut even makes a lefty version deserves 5 stars. So many knives / knife companies don't even think of that. Or don't bother doing it.It really needs no care beyond the funky strup it comes with. Just make sure you keep it dry at all times. I use a Tuf-Cloth on all blades after every carving session. Then a minute or two of strupping. That's it, and everything's fine so far. Be careful, though. Sharp AF...This thing will spill blood easily. It's OK, though. Builds character. PS: For "cons" Yeah, I'd prefer a nylon sheath with removable a metal clip. They give you a traditional leather sheath that is stiff AF. I'd also like it if the 'sheath' also held the shaped strup board, and the stick of yellow strupping compound. You know, whole package with optional belt/pack clips. Also, the price. But when you think about that...6 quality carving blades (individually) would cost about the same, and take up a lot more space. If you only carve at home and/or your shop; stick to traditional knives. tl;dr I'm pleased with my purchase.
