Fox FKMD FX-813G Mars Sputnik 13 Fixed Blade Knife 6" Black Plain Blade, Green TPR Handle
FOXFX813G: FKMD FX-813G Mars Sputnik 13
The Mars Sputnik series from Italy's Fox Knives are feature-filled tactical and survival blades. The Sputnik 13 features a 6" drop point blade in N690 steel with a compound grind. This versatile blade shape lends itself well to a variety of uses… tactical, hunting, survival, and camping. A prominent swedge aids in penetration and helps this larger blade do smaller work with the tip, and a fuller near the spine grants extra lateral strength to the knife.
The TPR handle features heavy grooves for lots of traction. The tang protrudes to form a crossguard, which contributes to a secure grip.
The pommel of the Sputnik 13 features interchangeable butt-caps. A tempered 420 stainless glass breaker is installed by default and a smooth cap and custom wrench are included to swap out as desired.
The sheath system offered is versatile. The FRN scabbard is MOLLE compatible and features a nylon belt loop and a pair of nylon straps to increase the attachment options.
The cobalt-alloyed N690 by Böhler (not to be confused with the lower-grade N695) is a very reliable upper middle-grade steel Fox uses for a wide variety of projects. The fine-grained N690, which ranks above 440C, offers convincing performance data in all areas. It is often sold as N690Co – the "Co" stands for cobalt and describes the exact same steel.
