Features
  1. Coil Shape:The coil shape in the heart of the knife is strongly related to the heritage of Morakniv. The knife with the red coil shaped handle is probably as well known as the famous Dala horse in Sweden.
  2. Pattern:The rhombus pattern is a traditional pattern that is present in many variations in Mora and the region of Dalarna. In the handle, the pattern provides a significantly improved grip. Beside its high functionality, it also pays a tribute to our region and history.
  3. Scandi Grind: The knife is grinded with a scandi grind which makes it easy to keep sharp.
  4. Blade Finish: The blade has a semi-matte finish appreciated among the outdoor community.
  5. Steel: The blade is 2 mm thick and 56 mm long (or in this case short). It is made of high-quality Swedish stainless steel (12C27) that is treated to the highest quality in Morakniv's own factory.
  6. Hole: The rear part of the handle has a hole for fastening a Lanyard, rope or other gadgets according to preference.
  7. Click Lock: The handle has a built-in click lock between the sheath and handle to ensure that the knife stays in place when worn around the neck.
  8. Secure Grip: The outer shell is made of TPE, a rubbery polymer that provides a firm and secure grip. The core of the handle, visible in the barrel shape, is made of polypropylene. It is a polymer that makes the knife and the handle very rugged.
  9. Rugged Core: The core of the handle, visible in the barrel shape, is made of polypropylene. It is a polymer that makes the knife and the handle very rugged.
  10. Handle Shape: The symmetrical handle allows flexible use of the knife with a two-way fit in the sheath. The drop design on the back is big enough to keep the knife steady in your hand.
  11. Grinded Spine: The spine of the blade is ground to make the edge perfect for use with a fire starter. This means that you do not need to use the edge of the blade when starting your fire, which makes your knife stay sharp for longer.
  12. Sheath Shape: The sheath is strongly inspired by sheaths first made in the beginning of the 1900s. Sheaths that today can be found on the classic line of knives, and look that looks almost the same as they did back then. The heart shaped cavities on the sheath, the symmetrical appearance and the triangle shaped tip is a trademark of a classic Morakniv sheath.
  13. Pocket Size: The knife's design makes it a more durable and rough option to a folding knife. When the knife is placed in the sheath, it is small enough to be carried in a pocket. And when used, the feeling of working with a fixed blade knife is simply unprecedented.
  14. Symmetrical:As with the knife, the symmetry of the sheath is of big importance, since it allows you to place the knife in the sheath from both sides.
  15. Protective Polymer: The sheath is made of polypropylene, a polymer that makes it rugged, and thereby provides an excellent protection of the knife.

A pleasant little surprise
I'm normally a big camp knife guy - I typically favor blades 7-10 inches long. However, I also live in Illinois, a state with some of the dumbest knife laws on the books. I kept seeing positive reviews popping up for the Eldris, and something about it intrigued me. I now own two, and love them. No, it will not do everything a large knife can do. But could I get everything done that I'd need to outdoors with the Eldris as my only knife? Pretty sure I could. The knife is all about fire prep -- the spine throws great sparks on a ferro rod and works great as a scraper to create fluff to catch a spark; it's razor sharp and feathers and carves like a champ; and it even batons perfectly well. Are you going to baton a 9-inch round with it? Of course not. But for creating kindling it's great. My favorite part of the knife is the handle. Finally -- finally! -- someone had the good sense to make a small-bladed knife with a normal-sized handle. I'm a big guy with big hands, and this handle is exceedingly comfortable for every task. I have no complaints about the sheath. I purchased the leather attachment with the first one I bought, but took it off after one or two carries out in the woods -- the retention is fine without it. I replaced the paracord with ball chain. I don't like being strangled -- but hey, maybe that's just me. So, will it replace an axe? Obviously not. Is it a one-tool option? Maybe. This knife punches way above its weight, and I find myself going to it more and more often when I'm outside. Plus, it's pretty much legal to carry everywhere in my dumb state -- even in Chicago.

Eldris
I like the size. I was thinking the blade would be a tad longer. What really disappointed me were two things...one the black plastic sheath does not have a belt clip like the rest of most moraknives. It would be nice on this knife because then i could carry it inside my front pocket like a pocket knife...and two it would not work with a firestarter. It says right on the package that it can be used with a firestarter and for the life of me I cannot get any sparks to fly. It also seems like my hand may slip forward if using this knife while wet. Nobody wants their first finger cut.
