Another is a series of 5 minute reviews by Jim, so called because they're only 5 minutes of reading for you (but obviously I put in a heck of a lot more time to create it).

Make: Hogue
Model: EX01
Price Paid: $190

First Thoughts...
Initial Impressions: Cool looking greenish handle. I wanted something different from my typical stark black choices, so I went for this one. Well built with a solid feel. I'm beginning to like Hogue.
Packaging: Standard size cardboard box with the knife tucked into a foam sleeve.
Accessories: None.
Documentation: A small sheet with About, Customer Satisfaction and Care instructions.
Observed Quality: Excellent. Everything was as it should be. Fit and finish were spot on.

Sharpness: Very. Not razor like, but definitely usable right out of the box.Speed of Deployment: Fast. Push the button and the blade jumps out.
Solidity of Lockup: Good. Probably could use a bit of an adjustment though; when the blade reaches the fully opened position there's a little 'return' action in the travel, as though it went a bit too far and needed to come back to the final resting position. When deployed downward pressure on the spine results in almost no motion. Slide lever for locking the blade moves easily yet stops in the locked or unlock position firmly.
Blade Wobble When Deployed: Almost none. I did observe some, but it was ever so slight.

Feel: Good. The aluminum feels nice in the hand, and the arched indentations cut into the left side add a bit of style.
Size: Very good. The handle isn't long or wide making it a good choice for an EDC, even though it has 3.5" blade.
Impressions: I like this handle, in spite of the fact I'm generally not a fan of aluminum. It has nice lines, a very good index finger choil and feels solid.

Clip Strength: A lot. The spring steel is very taunt with a spoon shaped end, so it does take a bit of effort to get in/out of your pocket. On the plus side, you'd be hard pressed to lose it - this knife isn't going anywhere. It's held in place by 3 screws so there's no lateral movement whatsoever.Carry Options: Right side only, tip up or down.

Value: Not the best. This is a really good knife, don't get me wrong, but at a cost of $190 it's getting pricey. I start to get very picky when I shell out almost $200 for a pocket knife.Buy Again: Probably.
Overall Assessment: The EX01 is on the high side, price wise, but I could still justify my purchase. Quality is evident. The blade has a unique spine profile and jimping that's actually usable. Throw in a cool (to me, anyway) handle color and you end up with a knife worth keeping.
