Description

HO34459: Hogue EX04 4" Upswept Blade with Gray Lava G-Mascus Handles

Hogue Knives

Introduced in 2012, the EX-04 is the next step in our Extreme Series. Just like the EX-01 and EX-03, it features our button plunge lock with manual safety and integrated stainless steel bolster plates. In addition to these features the EX-04 is designed with an ergonomic 3 dimensional G-Mascus G10 frame in two new colors. The design of the handle makes it very comfortable in both saber and ice-pick grip.

The blade designs are quite unique with performance in mind. Both the conventional upswept and modified Wharncliffe blades have dual grinds producing a unique keen edge for ease of cutting. Our wharncliffe design has the added feature of a belly which provides a broader range of use.

Pros: Lock Type, Handle Material, Handle Feel, Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Overall Quality
Cons: None
Very solid
I am not a knife collector, but I do like to have a daily carry for a variety of uses. This knife is very solid, and locks without hesitation. There is no fore-aft play nor side-by-side play. The secondary lock is very nice and appears to be un-defeatable. The blade is has proven to be very sharp and maintains its edge. I've used it for cutting rope, boxes and yes opening letters. The curve of the blade provides a long and positive cutting/slicing motion. In the pocket it is low profile and you barely know it is there. The handle is probably the most ergonomic handle that I have had on a folder. It is pricy, but overall I am impressed and happy with it. It is also a looker.
