KOCUSTOMKOTROUT: Special Edition Hunting/Fishing/Skinning Bird and Trout Knife
Ken Onion Knifeworks

The special edition hunting/fishing/skinning bird and trout knife is a mouthful when you say it but it is also a lot of utility knife in one package. The design is based off Ken's 6" curved fillet knife but with a more compact blade for more nimble cutting tasks. The 4" black DLC coated blade is made from BD1N nitrogen steel, hardened to 63HRC with a screen printed Ken Onion signature on the backside. The handle is made from beautifully polished black G10 which is designed with a nice palm swell to fit impeccably, creating the perfect safe grip. It combines a Ken Onion signature drop handle and control bump that lets you use the knife smoothly and efficiently no matter how tall you are or which hand you cut with while reducing forearm stress and offering increased stability. This combination of materials, makes it one of the best performing field knives ever. Perfect for salt water or getting dropped in the mud, this outdoor knife will stand up to anything and last a lifetime. Only 200 will ever be made and each knife includes a leather belt sheath.

Pros: Weight, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Scary sharp
I received this in 2 days after purchase. I was looking for a bird knife style that would be durable yet not break the bank. Have not put to hard use yet, and primarily wanted this for fishing and hunting. Out of the box this thing is scary sharp. I wouldnt run it down your arm. Paper test was ridiculous. Went through phone book and standard paper like it was air. Very easy to make paper curls. Leather sheath is goor to great. Fits over a reinforced 1 1/2 inch pistol belt no problem. The handle is fairly small and i have small hands, wear a small medium glove. But i knew this getting it, i wanted smaller than a fillet or bait knife but a lil bigger than a traditional skinner. I think this will excep on the coast while fishing and also small enough to allow control when skinning. Wheter for bait or fillet, it will do its job. Not overly flexible blade, hardly any flex. Not sure how sharpening will be yet but should be a while before it needs it. All in all im pretty happy with it and can find no flaws as of yet. I would buy it again in a second.

good but could be better
Just received this knife as a gift and at first impression I was kinda disappointed since it was a Ken onion limited edition. The handle has a small gap with what appears to be white caulk as filler and the knife is a little hard to grab from the sheath because it swallows the whole handle. But the more I played with it the more I liked the design and blade shape. It came as sharp as any knife I've gotten so hopefully it stays that way for a while. I'll give it a good workout during waterfowl season cleaning birds so we will see how it holds up. Oh last thing is the handles are sanded to almost too smooth of a texture. I can see this getting slick when it's covered in blood.
