KS1870OLBLK: 1870OLBLK Knockout Olive/Black
Kershaw Knives

THE KNOCKOUT PACKS AN EVEN BIGGER PUNCH IN OLIVE & BLACK

The Kershaw Knockout certainly is just that...a knockout. This US made frame lock features such time tested features as SpeedSafe assisted opening, ambidextrous flipper, and four position pocket clip. It moves beyond the original Knockout by sporting olive drab handles and a black DLC coated blade!

The original Knockout continues to deliver knockout good looks and top performance. But now we've kicked it up a notch with an olive-green handle and black DLC-coated blade.

The new olive-and-black Knockout still has its namesake “knocked out” section in the handle. This knocked-out piece in the anodized aluminum frame is replaced with a stainless-steel plate to form our sub-frame lock. This steel plate moves behind the knife blade to lock it open safely and securely. Yet because only part of the knife handle or frame is steel, the Knockout can maintain a lighter fighting weight and still provide a strong lock. The result is a knife that’s big, yet lightweight enough to carry every day.

The blade is a modified drop point in high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel with matte black DLC coating. The steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and hardenability, while the coating protects the blade and enhances performance.

The Knockout is equipped with SpeedSafe® assisted opening for smooth and easy one-handed opening. Just pull back on the built-in flipper or push on the thumbstud and the blade moves out of the handle quickly and easily.

The new olive-and-black Knockout also comes with Kershaw’s deep-carry pocketclip so the knife can sit all the way down in the pocket. Even better, the handle is drilled for 4-position carry. Lightweight and versatile, this Knockout provides a new color combination that will make it an ongoing favorite.
Features
  • Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe® - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe® knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Sub-Frame Lock - One side of a lightweight handle, or frame, is fitted with a steel plate integral to the frame; it is the part of the frame that moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. Sub-Frame Lock knives can be larger and lighter knife yet with an extremely secure lock.
  • Quad-carry - The user may position the pocketclip for tip-up or tip-down, left- or right-handed carry.
  • Made In The USA - When you see this on one of the knives, it means this knife was made in eir Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.

Awesome!!!
AWESOME! Right out of the box I knew this knife was amazing, solid, accurate, real attention to detail, rivaling or better than many more expensive knives. The frame lock, Speedsafe opening assist; plus thumb studs, Sandvik 14C28N steel blade and its Made in the USA; make this the best value and possibly the best all around EDC or folding survival knife available today. Its size, which is just kissing large for EDC, is offset by the light weight...brilliant design to use aluminum for the handles; light weight and integrate a stainless steel plate into the frame for the lock for strength. The blade is razor sharp, make that surgical sharp and its shape is all around ready to be accurate for detailed use or large enough for some more challenging, survival tasks. All these amazing features in a knife under $100 dollars make this Kershaw Knockout a real "Knockout". Slapped a Buffaloworx lanyard on it, clipped it to my jeans and it’s my new go to everyday carry knife.

Great EDC and good tactical blade
For the money it is a good buy. I want an EDC for EDC tasks but I also legally carry a gun and want something I can use to perhaps persuade a gun grabber from taking my gun away from my hand or holster. Maybe just for places where I cannot or do not carry a gun out of respect for my hosts and children. I want a knife that can be both a lap dog and an attack dog. My only con was that the knife is slippery which is not good for tactical use. Ask someone in ER about what they see the most on people who used a knife to defend themselves and they will tell you that it is the hand sliding off the frame and onto the blade. Those who never took knife fighting lessons will not know how important a good grip is. I solved this problem very easily and wish it was an option. I filled all of those pretty groves with rubberized grip tape from Talon Grips. It not only glues your hand to the knife when you grip it but also looks fantastic on the Green/Black model. It just accents the knife beautifully while giving you a great grip not even found on my very expensive knifes. Hate to say it but sweat and blood can make holding onto a knife very difficult as I learned in combat and it does not have to be in a human to human self defense situation. You can cut yourself, work on a bleeding friend to cut away clothes, or skinning an animal to eat until help arrives. I live in the tropics so my hands are sweaty all the time so I use this rubberized grip tape and sometimes their skateboard gritting type too. Skateboard tape also works but I prefer the rubberized as it does not rub my hand raw.Even my wife likes how the knife looks and she is usually unmoved by how my knives look. So with a little grip tape, Xacto knife and patience, I filled the grooves in with rubberized grip tape and the knife is even more beautiful and more functional too.
