KS1965: 1965 Rove Folding Knife
Kershaw Knives

Great Choice For-It-All Knife

Work knife, EDC, outdoor knife? Yes, yes, yes. And a lot more, too.

The Rove features a drop-point blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, which offers good hardness, wear resistance, and edge retention. The stonewashed finish hides scratches and looks good. The blade opens quickly and easily with SpeedSafe assisted opening and the built-in flipper. Extra-heavy jimping on the flipper makes it extra easy to open—even in wet or slippery conditions.

The handle is glass-filled nylon with heavy texturing—again, to take care of those slippery conditions. An oversized, starburst pivot adds an extra touch of eye-catching interest.

The Rove's secure liner lock provides for safe blade lockup and releases easy when the job is done. The Rove also has a conveniently large lanyard hole and a reversible deep-carry pocket clip.
Features
  • Flipper - May be used on either manual or assisted opening knives. The “flipper” is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud or pull back on the flipper; built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Liner Lock - Locks the blade open during use; one side of the knife’s steel “liner,” the steel plate to which the handle scales are attached, moves into position behind the blade to securely lock it open.
  • Reversible - Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.

Pros: Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness, Lock Ease of Use, Weight, Ease of Opening
Cons: None
more than I expected
This knife is really good. Works very good in every way. This is worth twice as much. I don't buy knifes from China but I bought this one to see how they compare to the U.S.A. made ones and I don't see how they can be so good. A real eye opener. I guess it's all about labour costs because this is not junk.

Pros: Pocket Clip, Blade Sharpness, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Ease of Opening, Lock Type
Cons: None
Great
I have been using it as my EDC and really like it for the money. It has a very positive opening, the blade is perfectly centered and the lock works well. The handle feel good in the hand and the blade closes nicely plus it came very sharp. Yes there are better knives around but for the low price of this one, it is a winner.

new EDC
I really liked the blade shape so purchased 2 of these. The first one I unboxed was dull. I found the blade rough so it took some swipes on my sharpmaker to bring it up to speed. The second one was way better. I've carried the 'dull' one since receiving it. Used it to open a shrink wrapped package of ribs and slice it into smaller sections. The blade shape worked very well on the plastic and meat. I wish it had better steel such as 14c28n. I don't know how well the knife steel will hold up. I've had some 8cr13mov blades rust very easily so I will have to wait to see.
