KS7300BLK: Launch 3 AUTO
Kershaw Knives
Got an automatic attraction? Then look into Kershaw's Launch 3. This automatic knife features CPM154 blade steel, a strong opening kick, and is made-in-the-USA at Kershaw’s Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility.

The CPM154 powdered metallurgy blade steel has more uniform distribution of carbides—so it takes and holds an excellent edge. It also provides good corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and toughness. The blade is black-oxide coated for an additional measure of blade protection and dark good looks. Then to lighten the Launch 3's weight, we made the handle of durable anodized aluminum and slimmed it toward the back end to neatly fit your hand. Carry left- or right-handed with the Launch 3's reversible pocketclip.

The Launch 3 opens with a push button, which is recessed so that it is level with the flat of the handle. This is a safety feature and makes it harder for the knives to accidentally deploy. Nevertheless, automatic knives are dangerous and should be handled with extreme caution in all circumstances.
  • Push-Button Lock - Found on the Kershaw Folding Saw, It locks the saw blade open during use, then releases with the push of a button.
  • Made In The USA - When you see this on one of our knives, it means the knife was made in our Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility by skilled Kershaw knifemakers.
  • Reversible - Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.

Cons: Handle Feel, None
Sweet knife Yo!
I ordered it on Friday and received it on Monday afternoon, super fast free shipping. I believe the blade lock issue has been addressed, I have opened it no less than 50 times with zero failures. The handle is smooth which makes it easy to get out of your pocket but also make it hard to hold on to when the blade swings out due to the strong spring. There is no hole for a dummy cord so if you want a tactical auto knife you may want to choose something else. This is my first auto open knife and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The materials, function and finish are outstanding so i am sure this will not be my last Kershaw auto knife.

Sleek feels of quality
Bought as a multipurpose everyday carry and I am satisfied. I would say top tier quality at half the price. Good spring tension when button is depressed, blade locks firmly in place. I reviewed cpm154 before purchase: good edge retention but able to easily sharpen, good corrosion resistance, and good strength. Each category I would I use a scale of; poor, good, and great. In my oppion a good all around auto knife that feels worth the money in hand. Not a bad knife but also not in same class as most $350+ Competitors quality blades. blade sharpness out the box is good, but when sharpen your own you always get a better edge than mass prodution. Took little effort to get razor edge with great finish. Conclusion would compare against any 200$ class auto that gets more points for a good price.

Dont think its QUITE right....design needs revision.
I have had MANY 'AUTO' knives and EDC'd a 1994 bought Benchmade 2500 mini-Reflex for 20 years and LOVED that knife. Found a good deal on this Kershaw 7300 Launch 3 and bought it.The dimensions are fair, its a bit 'wide' at the pivot end which leads to one of its worst shortcomings. If you grip the knife tightly when you deploy the blade, the knife flexes under compression and the blade deploys much more slowly(and sometimes wont even lock) than if you limp grip it and just poke the button. This isnt acceptable, The knife is NOT rigid enough under compression at the pivot end.In a situation where you NEED to NOT DROP the bloody knife and you push the button and it fails to deploy properly THAT is a bad day. This is the ONLY 'AUTO' knife I have ever had that I noticed this design flaw. You could chuck the Benchmade 2500 up in a vise and it would function properly.
