Kizer Cutlery

The Kizer Splinter flipper is a sleek, lightweight gentleman's knife brought to you by a collaboration between Kizer and TomCat Knives. The handles are made from titanium with a subtle textured pattern that is not only great to look at but provides outstanding grip. The compact design of the knife and ambidextrous tip-up pocket clip allows it to easily fit in your pocket. The blade is crafted from S35VN stainless steel with a stonewashed finish for a rugged and worn-in look. S35VN is a high grade steel with exceptional edge retention and wear resistance. This flipper features a frame lock, reversible tip-up milled titanium pocket clip, and lanyard hole.

Kizer uses high-tech wire EDM machines to cut the parts. This method is slower than laser or water jet but Kizer feels quality is worth the wait. Each component in Kizer knives is precision machined and engineered to the finest tolerances. The final fit, finish, action, and sharpness of each knife is achieved entirely by hand, employing the irreplaceable craftsmanship developed by generations of cutlery masters. Dedicated craftsman honoring the long-term goal of making the best knives possible is what Kizer brings to you.

Mixer Rainbow Splitter
S35VN is a great steel, and more importantly seems to be hardened just right on this knife. Using the KME sharpener it has an edge that I can easily shave with, but still holds its edge with rough rope / box cutting. People complaining about a rough frame lock edge must have very soft skin, as I had to search for what they were referring to after owning and carrying this in my rotation for over 6 months now. Same can be said for the flipper - if it was any larger i’d think it was too large - blade opens quickly and locks up reliably every single time. Hard to believe it isn’t assisted opening. I love the blade profile, handle feel, construction quality, looks, and operation - it makes the other knives in my carry rotation that cost much more (a couple 4 times more) seem mediocre. I guess you can tell I think this knife is an absolute bargain.

Great Knife
Overall, the knife's fit and finish is beautiful, especially for the price. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I actually like the size of the flipper. For me, it is just large enough to easily deploy the knife and perfectly proportioned for the size of the knife. For those who like large flippers, there are better options.

Hopeful, but problematic
I realize that my review of this knife was put incorrectly on another Kizer Klecker knife I purchased. Refer to that, if possible. Kizer needs to do finish work on these expensive and beautiful, but disappointing blades. Less styles and concentrating on the fit and finish of those styles may bring these into the top end of quality knives.
