KUKI3499: Ki3499 Justin Lundquist Feist Folding Knife
Kizer Cutlery

An accidental loss of a daily companion knife and inspirations from Bob Terzuola led Justin Lundquist to craft his first custom creation. Driven by a lifelong passion for fine art and traditional craftsmanship, Justin drew on his experiences in camping and hunting, adding clean flowing lines to fill the hands with a sleek blade that tackles any task with ease.

The Feist is an embodiment of the fact that size does not equate to capability. This compact folding knife is similar to a traditional slipjoint but is upgraded with a flowing, modern outline and CPM-S35VN premium stainless steel. This front flipper is full of energy and definitely stands out from the crowd, a "feisty" knife indeed!

Some production problems
I had a few problems with my Feist. 1. Pivot screw was completely loose. 2. Stop pin was loose in the blade and rattled around. I fixed those with some Loctite. 3. After enjoying the flipping action for a week or so I noticed some lock rock. I can see some major wear on the lockbar insert so that the lockbar ran out of pre-load before the blade fully locked up. I was able to fix that by bending the lockbar a little to slightly increase the tension, but I think there is something wrong with the heat treat on the insert. I may be looking for a replacement insert in the future. It is my understanding the Justin is aware of production issues and is working with Kizer to get them fixed.Other than these manufacturing issues, I do love it. The action is satisfying. It is a great design, very compact yet capable. This knife easily falls into the gentleman's knife category.
