Description
NKMPR1: MPR-1 Folding Knife, Designed by Al Mar
Nemesis Knives

The MPR-1 is the first of what we hope will become many Mar Private Reserve knives to come from Nemesis. The MPR Collection showcases 100's of previously unknown drawings owned by the Mar family. They feature vintage designs with modern materials to give you a piece of history and functionality rolling into a nice, svelte package.

The MPR-1 features a 3.44" VG-10 stainless steel blade with a brushed satin finish. The handles are made from milled titanium with a four-position deep carry pocket clip. It's a slender profile, in more ways than one, but it does provide a nice amount of reach for such a lightweight, easily carried EDC tool. The lockback mechanism is extremely durable and the ergonomics are fantastic on this awesome folding knife. If you're a fan of Al Mar's designs and want something different, try a Mar Private Reserve from Nemesis Knives.

Snoopy's Doghouse
I got this one because of the Al Mar design and it reminded me of my old favorite, the Kershaw titanium handled Wild Wild Turkey (1430). This one doesn't snap fully open with a forward push on the thumbstud like the Kershaw. Even after a little lube and some break in time it is still a little stiff and takes a good hard push and a little wrist to snap it open. It is probably due to it being a back-lock instead of a liner lock. Despite the harder opening, I appreciate the heartiness of the back-lock and it feels very solid.Once I got it open I immediately noticed and loved the long blade. Compared to many folders, the blade seems almost disproportionately long for the handle, but Like Snoopy's doghouse, there must be more room inside that handle than outward appearances. The jimping on the top of the blade was surprisingly effective at holding my thumb in place, which is important on this one because the handle is not swelled to keep your hand from sliding onto the knife edge, but there is enough of a finger choil on the blade just in front of the handle to allow me to choke up on it for fine detail cutting. Despite the spear point blade, this is not a knife for much hard stabbing in a normal grip, but the end of the knife was held fairly securely against the heel of my hand. If you need to stab something hard, I suggest using a reverse grip, edge forward, with your thumb comfortably hooked over the back of the knife. Beyond occasionally poking holes in stuff, this long blade makes it a great slicer and I tempted to take it out and use it as a steak knife. I expect this knife to be a great light to medium duty EDC with the VG10 holding up well. I also think it is classy enough for some dressier situations, but for those who care about such opinions that long spear point may look too aggressive.I will need to carry this knife a little more to learn about the clip for myself, but I have to agree with another reviewer that the shortness of the clip inclines me to think it may not be the most secure way to carry this knife in a pocket. I hope I don't learn this the hard way because I really like the knife and would hate to lose it. Maybe someone from Nemesis or a third party will read these reviews and offer a longer replacement clip. On the plus side for the clip, it s deep carry with recessed screws and the shortness does keep it out of the way when you need a firmer grip on it.

Not worth the price
I bought this knife through --- and have had it for about a year and a half. I like the look and feel of the knife but despite taking meticulous care of it after a few months I saw a few spots of rust on the blade (very tiny) but my biggest complaint is the clip that comes with it.The clip is sh-t; I can't tell you how many times it has fallen out of my pocket because of that stupid clip which is something I have not encountered before with my knives and considering the cost of this knife I didn't expect to encounter these issues.Last week I was at work and using the bathroom and when I pulled up my pants it fell which caused the clip to finally snap in half. I couldn't remove the POS clip right away and later that day I forgot about it until it sliced my finger pretty bad.For the money they charge for this knife you can do better. I am not sure how their other products are but I will avoid Nemesis Knives in the future.

Sweet EDC Folder
I really like this knife. I like the size, the blade shape, the look and the materials. It all clicks for me. I haven’t tried to sharpen it yet, so nothing to report there. I have one gripe. If you use the clip to hang this knife in your front pants pocket, do not expect to use that pocket for anything else. The grooves on the spine of the blade and the decorative cuts on the scales are rough on your hand if you try and get anything out of your pocket.
