ONRAT31095BL: RAT-3 Survival Knife, Plain Edge, Black Sheath
Ontario Knife Company
This collaboration between RAT and Ontario is a 3.75" fully concealable sheath knife called the RAT-3. It was designed for law enforcement, military and outdoorsmen who require compact cutting power.

The RAT-3 features a molded Blade-Tech sheath. The sheath easily integrates with a Blade-Tech drop holster or can be adapted in the field to fit other rigs commonly used within the military and law enforcement communities. The sheath comes standard with two types of retention devices: a TekLok and a Boot Clip and can be carried in left or right-hand mode. The sheath can also be stripped of retention devices and carried as a neck knife.

The RAT-3 also follows the other RAT designs using Micarta slabbed ergonomic handles and full flat grind for excellent slicing and cutting efficiency.

1095 Carbon Steel
1095 Carbon Steel
An excellent hard use steel, 1095 is a primary choice for camping and larger fixed blade knives for its extreme toughness and ability to hold an edge. Corrosion resistance is very limited with this steel (it will rust) and most blades come with a coating to prevent premature rusting.
Kydex Sheath
Kydex Sheath
Waterproof, scratch resistant, and low friction. It will hold its shape and makes a great alternative to leather.
Micarta Handles
Micarta Handles
Micarta is a compressed layered composite sealed within a thermosetting plastic which creates a strong, attractive material that is impervious to water.

Great knife! Let's clear some things up.
First things first, let's clear the air. This is a knife, it's a tool with a sharp edge to cut things. That's it, plain and simple. So if you're one of the people complaining about the handle screws shearing off because you used it like a punch or a striking tool via hammer, then you're a dumba**. Secondly if it's too dull for your liking then by all means put it on a stone and sharpen the blade to your liking. I cringe seeing reviews saying, "I should have bought a ESEE because the rat was dull out of the box". If you can't sharpen a knife then please don't buy a knife. Half of the reviewers I've read will never use this knife for what it's made for. Or use it for more then a hip knife to show your friends. Now that I've said that, let me say this knife does everything for me it is designed to do. I use this knife for camping/hiking and hunting. It has served it's worth and then some, from setting up camp to skinning and gutting deer. I've had several deer lined up for me to field dress and this knife performed flawlessly. I'd finish one deer, hit it on a stone real quick and get right in to another deer. If I ever wear this knife out, I hope they're still making it because I'd buy another without hesitation. Rant over. Everyone, have a good day and stay safe.
