RMJ Tactical
Years ago when Ryan Johnson was making a special order knife for a SWAT team member, a good friend and resident critic John came by the shop to look the knife over. "The tip is too narrow and thin," he said. "It will break if the person using the knife tries to pry something open." Ryan told him that this knife was not meant to be used as a pry-bar, just for cutting.

John then said something that both defined the word "tactical" and, most importantly, changed Ryan's design paradigm forever: "The situations this person finds himself in should determine what this knife is used for. If he needs to cut something, it cuts. If he has to pry a door open, it's a pry-bar. These are high-energy situations where every second counts. You can't carry everything you would like to carry; the knife will have to be able to complete a multitude of tasks."

In a perfect world, a soldier or law enforcement officer would have ready access to all of the tools and weapons he ever needed, but that just isn't possible. It takes more than an aggressive look or a gray and black finish to make a fixed blade a tactical knife. Remember, knives meet the needs of the soldiers and frontiersman as both a tool and weapon in the battlefield conditions they encounter. In Ryan's view, a contemporary tactical fixed blade should be able to withstand all modern battlefield conditions — areas ranging from the Salt Lake City, Utah, Olympics, to the Jungles of South America, to the rugged mountains in Afghanistan. (RMJ Tactical knives have been carried in all three).

If you are looking for the perfect EDC knife that can be easily concealed then look no further! The Sparrow measures 8" overall with a 3.3" Nitro-V Stainless steel blade wearing a gray finish. The G10 handles are quality in addition to looking extremely excellent. The knife includes a friction fit Kydex sheath with biothane belt loop allowing for comfortable horizontal carry. The Sparrow was designed by RMJ crew member Charles Taylor and was proudly made in the USA.

The last knife I ever needed
I have been carrying this knife for about 2 years now and have been extremely impressed. It takes a great edge and holds it well, the tip is extremely sharp. Be mindful of rust though while it won’t instantly turn to rust It will be a good idea to just take care of the edge. The cerekote finish has been the most durable out of any other knife I have used, and have not seen any corrosion where it is finished. I did notice the bevel seems to uniformly change from the back of the edge towards the tip seemingly to aid the rear of the blade to rougher harder cuts which I have used for whittling and the middle out for more sharper cuts although it cuts very well throughout the whole edge. Clamshell packaging, cardboard boxes, rope, and hot dog packages do not pose a problem for this knife. the sheath is quiet when unsheathing the knife and is very smooth. The level of retention is fine with how light the knife is. The g10 handles feel great although when I first opened the box the handle looked uncomfortably small, but upon using the knife it was still very comfortable and easy to keep a firm grip on. For reference I wear a large glove. The only thing I did not like was the biothane loop. But after throwing it in the trash and looping an x pattern through the 4 corner holes in the sheath with paracord the set up worked flawlessly. This really is a well made knife
