Rockstead Knives are, in our opinion, some of the best production knives available on the market. With Rockstead's meticulous craftsmanship and unique designs, this semi-custom folder is worth the premium price tag. The TEI-ZDP folder features a 3.5" ZDP-189/VG10 clad steel, mirror-finish blade with blasted flats and durable anodized aluminum handles with stingray inlays. The opening action is smooth with a solid liner lock to securely keep the blade locked in place. The incredible mirror finish is achieved by heat treating the blade and gradually hand grinding through 400, 600, 800, 1,200 and 2,000 grits wet-dry sandpaper. This is very intense and time-consuming because if any scratches were to occur during this process, the blade must be sent back to the previous step for refinishing. Once this is complete, the blade will be buffed for the final finish. The folks at Rockstead have mastered this process to give the knife a beautiful finish and sharp edge like no other. Each knife is individually numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity.

With proper maintenance, Rocksteads are known to keep a sharp edge for 2-3 years. Rockstead Knives come with free sharpening and regrinding. You would be responsible for shipping charges to and from Japan.

Rockstead TEI-ZDP lives up to its reputation for quality and existence
Other than blade material technology there are not any difference in my estimation between the the Rockstead TEI-ZDP and the TEI_DLC so this review will essentially be the same as my review of the TEI-DLC. A difference in price between these two models does exist. The Rockstead TEI-ZDP s a tremendous knife that you can put into a pocket or into a belt carrier. It is easily carried but the unusual quality or "soul" of the knife is that it has the aura of a large Japanese Sword. Realizing the blade is a folding blade and it is not fixed it still commands my attention as a remarkable sword. Undoubtedly the videos of this knife cutting hundreds of perfect sections of rope go a long way of speaking to and supporting my sword characterization and the durable nature of this folder. The knife itself is unlike any other that I have seen. It is true about the fabled quality and finish of the knife and the blade finish is actually incredible. Rockstead has in my opinion correctly categorized and titled this knife as their "Flagship" and it is. If you want to go the extra distance in the purchase of a knife you can do no wrong and possibly no better with than other folders then the TEI (either ZDP or DLC) is for you. It is that good.
