Leather Sheath
Leather Sheath
Leather is known for its durability and traditional appeal. When compared to Kydex it is preferred for its silence when bumped against other objects, as well as blade retention.
Zytel Handles
Zytel Handles
A nylon polymer that is lightweight and extremely durable, Zytel can be shaped and textured to provide excellent grip.
8CR13 Stainless Steel
8CR13 Stainless Steel
Considered a value steel, 8Cr13 steel provides adequate corrosion resistance but with slightly more carbon than AUS-8, it will sharpen up and hold an edge better.

Cons: Sheath/Scabbard, Blade Material
Unique knife with some rough edges
The Powder Keg is a very unique knife which is partially what attracted me, there's not much else available like it. Classic bushcraft drop point blade profile with a nice stonewash finish (which I personally like the look of). Spine isn't sharp however so it looses points from me because of that. The TPR scales have a secure feel even when your hands are wet. They don't go to the edge of the tang though but it's not a QC issue, it's actually the design. Not sure of the logic behind that, other than aesthetics perhaps. The scales are way too small and thin for my XL hands. If you have medium sized male hands you'll be OK, maybe even if you have large hand you could make do, but I can't get a secure grip. The blade tip is paper thin so don't even think about any type of prying. 8Cr13MoV is a pretty low-end stainless steel but given the price it's probably average for the class. The biggest disappointment is the sheath; it's almost worthless. It's made from some of the worst (and ugliest color) leather I have ever seen, has an unusual and questionable design and sits so high on the waste it makes the knife hard to extract and almost impossible to insert. I can't imagine what the thought process was when they approved this design. For the current sale price of $37 it priced correctly, but I paid $58 about 1 1/2 years ago and it's not worth anywhere near that in my opinion. For a beater knife you throw into the tool box it's a workable option but if you head into the woods for anything other than very light activities the Powder Keg is probably not a great option.

not sharp and asymmetric point
I just received this knife and I have some concerns:1.- the edge was dull2.- the point is asymmetric if you look the knife from above.
