Pros: Blade Sharpness, Handle Material, Handle Feel, Overall Quality, Pocket Clip, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Material
Cons: None
Great knife, with cosmetic defects
The new Cutjack in m390 has a lot going for it. Here are the pros and cons as I see them, after a month or so of using this knife. Pro: the high flat grind and simple blade shape allow this to be used as a excellent slicer, similar to the venerable Spyderco Delica. The finger choil was a good choice, as it easily allows for a 4 finger grip, without sacrifice of too much cutting surface. The bearing pivot fires fast and true with the ease that we have come to expect from modern flippers. As it's a liner lock, there is no extreme problem with the detent. The liner itself is on the thin side, but has full lockup. Light weight, almost featherweight, with a somewhat tight clip, this would be a good choice for wearing with shorts. Overall, a very good light duty knife. Cons: mostly cosmetic. The backspacer on the black g10 version is a bright blue color, very hard to see in the listed photos. Not a great contrast in color. The writing seen on the blade in the photos is actually etched into the blade with a laser, so no removing it easily. There is a lot of writing on it too, so if you don't want a billboard on your knife, you may want to rethink this. Overall, still a good value for the materials and intended use, ie a lightweight EDC knife.
