Smith's 6" x 2.5" Diamond Bench Stone features multiple layers of micron-sized moncrystalline diamonds banded in nickel to a flat metal surface. The unique overlapping oval hole design speeds sharpening by collecting and holding the metal filings which ordinarily build up during the sharpening process. This allows the sharpening surface to remain clean and clear and speeds sharpening. This stone is excellent for sharpening side woodworking tools, medium to small sport/utility knives, or kitchen knives.

Great tool
I use the stone foe the first sharpening for honing electric clipper blades. It takes off the material very fast, without being too coarse. Then I use the same diamond hone with a fine grit for the best finish. I sharpen shears & clipper heads for hair Salons! Excellent products.Doug

Outstanding!
I bought this specifically because I have a Kabar D2 that needed a sharp edge. I've tried regular old stones, ceramics and other misc sharpening methods, and this put the absolute best edge on the knife that it's had since it left the factory. It's been very frustrating trying to get this knife sharp and now that it finally is, all that worry is gone. I can't recommend this enough!
