SNSF5NWCOAST: 2020 Special Edition Spartan Harsey Folding Knife - Northwest Coast
KnifeCenter is extremely excited to offer you another collaboration between Spartan Blades and William Harsey - this time in a folding knife. It is a winner for sure featuring a 3.95" CPM-S35VN stainless steel blade and full titanium handles, available in a number of different configurations. The ergonomic handle features finger grooves and jimping to lock the design into your hand during hard use. There is an internal overtravel prevention mechanism built into the handle and the titanium pocket clip is reversible for ambidextrous tip-up carry. The dual thumb studs are extremely easy to access because Spartan has milled a perfect ramp for your thumb to find these studs. It's a well thought out design and is manufactured with Spartan quality so you know you're getting a knife that can and will serve you well in any theater of use.
The artwork on this knife represents Spartan's appreciation for the art and style of West Coast Native Americans. During their time in the 1st Special Forces Group, Mark and Curtis spent almost a decade patrolling and operating in the forests of Washington State. During their time there, they developed an appreciation for this simple, clean, and meaningful art form that represented the natural world.
The Frog is a creature of great importance in Northwest Coast art and culture. As a creature that lives in two worlds, water, and land, Frog is revered for his adaptability, knowledge, and power to traverse worlds and inhabit both natural and supernatural realms.
The kingfisher to the Northwest Coast Indians, Kingfisher is generally viewed positively, as a messenger and a sign of good luck to come. In Makah legends, however, a human thief was punished by being transformed into the first kingfisher. In the Siouan tribes, Kingfisher is associated with fertility. Most often, Kingfisher appears in traditional stories as a proficient hunter, whose success cannot be duplicated by careless imitators.
The Dragonfly is used as a clan crest in some Northwest Coast tribes, such as the Tlingit, and can sometimes be found carved on totem poles. The Yaqui also have a Dragonfly Dance among their tribal dance traditions The meaning of the Dragonfly symbol was to signify happiness, speed, and purity. The dragonfly also represents transformation and life's ever-constant process of change.
