SNSF5RUNES: 2020 Special Edition Spartan Harsey Folding Knife - Runes and Staves

Spartan Blades

KnifeCenter is extremely excited to offer you another collaboration between Spartan Blades and William Harsey - this time in a folding knife. It is a winner for sure featuring a 3.95" CPM-S35VN stainless steel blade and full titanium handles, available in a number of different configurations. The ergonomic handle features finger grooves and jimping to lock the design into your hand during hard use. There is an internal overtravel prevention mechanism built into the handle and the titanium pocket clip is reversible for ambidextrous tip-up carry. The dual thumb studs are extremely easy to access because Spartan has milled a perfect ramp for your thumb to find these studs. It's a well thought out design and is manufactured with Spartan quality so you know you're getting a knife that can and will serve you well in any theater of use.

This particular knife is covered with several Runes and Staves to bring luck, good health, and healing to the owner. Hey it can't hurt!

Norse runes are a lettering system or written language which was in everyday use long before the Roman alphabet which we use today was adopted into common use. It is said that the root word of rune is derived from the word "secret" in English and "whisper" in German. To many Icelandic people, the ancient runes are seen as a connection to the realm of the sacred. They represent the subtle patterns of connection which many believe underlie our lives, conveying messages from the infinite and allowing us to be in better harmony with the world around us.

The Icelandic magical staves are symbols found in books that tell of symbols of magic said to have power. They started to appear in the late middle-ages between the 15th and 19th centuries, but most date from the 18th century. They number in the hundreds. The staves were recorded in a textbook of magic, called a grimoire. Today they are worn as protective symbols to prevent getting lost or to give one power in battle!

Titanium Handles
Titanium Handles A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
Pocket Clip
Pocket Clip Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
S35VN A tougher steel than S30V, it retains the excellent corrosive properties and ability to take an edge, but improves on the ability to hold that edge.
Frame Lock
Frame Lock Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Semi-Custom Semi-Custom or Mid-Tech knives are knives produced by a process in which the designer has more direct--but not complete--involvement; parts of these knives may still have been made by others.

Overpriced but worth it?
If you’re expecting the Spartan Harsey to rival the fit and finish of your CRK or Hinderers you’re likely to be disappointed with your purchase and to be honest at this price those small details should be accounted for. However, if you’re looking for a bada** 4inch folder, which excites you, and you’re willing to overlook some of the fit and finish the Harsey is an absolute beast. I tend to buy knives based on the way they make me feel and the overall design language of this piece is top notch. I just wish moving forward Spartan will start to pay more attention to the small details if they continue to price at this price point.Spartan if your listening, my short list would be... lockbar insert, chamfering on the lock bar, milling on the inside of the handles and a more refined overall detent and action.Hope this helps perspective buyers. Certainly an overpriced piece but hey, it’s badass and it makes me feel like a Viking in the office which is worth something haha.
