Brous design
Overall pleased with the design and fabrication of this piece. I had my eye on a Brous Blades Triple Threat for quite some time, and a friend gifted this blade to me. It has a combo grind: hollow + flat chisel edge. Efficient at cutting, penetrating, and easy to carry when you don't need a larger fixed blade. It has the unique Brous handle machining, which is aesthetically pleasing, but there is a drawback; dirt, grime, blood and any other material is sure to find it's way into the plastic scales. It offers nice grip, but the machining in my opinion should have been shallow, instead of exposing the blade through the cut-outs. One other drawback is the nylon belt loop bolted to the sheath: I found it to be very poor quality, the retention snap did not fit around the handle, and it offered absolutely no value. I remedied this by removing the webbing and mounted a Tek-lock to to the knife sheath (it barely fit, but it is secured nicely). The molded nylon sheath retains the knife without the need of a retention snap. All in all, you get what you pay for. If you want the superb Brous design, go with Brous Blades. SOG has many great offerings, but their attention to detail is lacking in a few areas with the Growl.

SOG Growl
I purchased this knife with my employee cost at a great price. I like the size which is just about right: not too small to be effective but not too large to be bulky. The full tang gives strength, the blade looks thick and tough and sharp out of the box. The grip is secure. The sheath enclosing the blade is good too. HOWEVER the upper portion of the sheath which is bolted to the lower portion looked cheesy and I removed it to attach another form such as a clip or tech-lock for simplicity.I would have given this knife a rating of "5" but the sheath gripe lowered it to a "4."I will use the knife for self-defense purposes. Size is just right not being too small or too large. Knife is solid and strong being full tang and thick. Blade is sharp out of the box and tip looks tough. The lower portion of the sheath is good and my only gripe was the top portion which looked cheesy and was bolted on. I removed it and will install a low profile black metal clip for simplicity.
