Pros: Handle Material, Handle Feel, Lock Type, Blade Material, Ease of Opening, Weight, Lock Ease of Use, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip, None
Great knife, lousy clip
There’s a lot to like about this knife: balance, blade shape, blade material and sharpness: all top notch. The handle material is grippy and fills the hand well. The pocket clip, however has proved itself a horrible change from previous versions: it has rusted badly while worn on my backpack’s shoulder straps. It already didn’t make me happy as it’s a stubby little thing (though I appreciate the deep pocket carry style of this clip) that kept snagging on stuff, but rusting was the final straw. This knife now sits uncarried in my knife box. Someday I’ll write SOG for a new clip but for now seeing it in there just saddens me.

SOG Japan?
I bought this knife after handling the original pentagon folder. That knife was smooth and had solid lockup, with easy arc lock flipping. The pent arc however feels stiff, has side to side play and lock rock. The blade is also off center. For $162 it leaves me wanting. Japan used to build quality knives, not sure what happened. I will not buy another SOG folder.

Close To Perfect
I carry a knife for that "just in case" moment, and this one is just about perfect for that purpose. The deep carry clip makes it very discreet, while the size and shape of the handle gives it a perfect draw. There's no twisting or fumbling around in your hand to get it in position to deploy the blade. I prefer thumb studs/holes for deployment, but it's just as easy to pull the Arc Lock and flick it out. The grip makes it easy to switch between blade up or down, and the clip is fine in either position. My only gripes about the knife are the handle material and blade sharpness. The GRN feels solid enough, but at the same time it feels a little cheap. There are obvious seems and some sharp edges that should have been smoothed out. The inside edges tend to scratch, and the blade edge is a tad close to the open back. It hasn't happened yet, but it's enough to make me worry about cutting myself when reaching for my keys. While the blade is definitely sharp, it's not as sharp as my Kershaw Link or Spyderco Para 2. It's sharp enough for it's intended purpose, but it's kind of disappointing -for the price- to be tearing paper when testing sharpness. Also, I was surprised to see the blade isn't a symmetrical dagger-style spear point. It has more of a belly on the sharpened side which gives it a hint of a drop point profile. It's not even noticeable in the pictures, but it very obvious in person. I think this is part of why the blade feels to close to the opening in the handle.tldr: Make the blade a symmetrical spear point, give it some nice G10 handles, and sharpen it a little more, and you'll have the perfect defensive EDC knife.
