Description
SP101CFPCW2: C101CFPCW2 KnifeCenter Exclusive Manix 2
Spyderco

Renowned for its strength and full-service cutting performance, Spyderco’s Manix 2 is the everyday carry tool of choice for tens of thousands of users worldwide. This elite version of the design, produced exclusively for Knife Center, elevates it to an even higher level of performance and reliability with the addition of advanced, state-of-the-art materials.

The blade of this Manix 2 Exclusive is precision machined from CPM-CruWear — an air-hardening tool steel specially formulated to offer both superior wear resistance and toughness. Created by Crucible Industries, CruWear's unique alloy composition allows it to excel in applications that require greater wear resistance than D2, more toughness than M2 high-speed steel, or both. The enhanced version of CruWear used in the blade of this knife is produced by the Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process, which ensures an ultra-fine, highly homogeneous grain structure that maximizes the performance potential of the steel. In a knife blade, that translates to amazing toughness and the ability to take and hold an outstanding edge.

Proudly featuring Spyderco's Trademark Round Hole, the full-flat-ground blade of this Manix 2 is paired with a patented Ball Bearing Lock mechanism, full stainless steel liners, and solid carbon fiber handle scales. The smooth matte-finished scales offer extreme strength and light weight, as well as a stunning appearance that truly sets this knife apart. To ensure convenient carry and immediate access, the handle also includes a reversible hourglass pocket clip that supports ambidextrous tip-up carry.

A truly extraordinary expression of one of Spyderco’s finest designs, this Exclusive version of the Manix 2 is destined to become a highly prized collector's item.

Manix 2 is an easy-to-use knife because the choi and finger grooves are excellent and very easy to grasp. Opening and closing is smooth and there is no stress. Ball bearing lock system is also comfortable. It is ideal with a full height grind with a dropped spear point, with a secondary edge and a blade thickness of 3 mm stronger. Just in the closed state, it has width, so it gathers a little, and I feel a little heavy for EDC. I also own Manix 2 LX, but it is too big for normal use and it is hard to use. With regard to blade steel, it seems that it is good to fight against toughness rather than D2 with a new steel material CPM called CruWear, and it seems toughness is higher than M2, so it can be tough to use it. What I became concerned is where the carbon fiber of the handle material is intact and no surface treatment is done. Surface deterioration will take place in the outdoor for 5 years. The appearance is not bad, but because I want to use it for a long time, I blown two-part urethane clear and I re-coated it for 3 minutes with gloss level.

Even better than expected
This thing is beautiful. The construction and finishing of the scales and liners are so very nice. Super smooth action out of the box. The cruwear blade is perfect and edge is crazy sharp, have not used it enough to talk about retention. I did not buy as an edc, but feel it may be too heavy ( for me at least ) to edc. It does carry deep for its size and shape if you don't mind the weight. The fit and finish are beyond what I expected for the price. Carbon fiber and cruwear for $164??? Buy it.

Fit and Finish to the max
I love the Manix 2 platform, and this Knife Center exclusive is a real gem. It has all the features of a custom knife, but in a platform that is tried and true. It's kind of a knife with split personality, it has the look of a gentleman's folder, but has all the attributes of a hard use knife. That being said, the CF scales aren't too grippy, and while the liner jimping certainly helps, I could see this being a hot spot in ungloved hands. The knife has heft, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your preferences. For the price, you get a crazy amount of goodness in this knife.
