SP201TIBLP: C201TIBLP Vrango
Designed by award-winning Swedish custom knifemaker Michael Henningsson, the Spyderco Vrango is an extremely practical cutting tool with a distinctive aesthetic style. Named for the small island in the Gothenburg archipelago of Sweden that Henningsson calls home, the Vrango's most distinctive feature is its uniquely shaped CPM S30V stainless steel blade, which uses a deep hollow grind to yield an Americanized tanto-style tip and a slightly recurved primary edge. As an avid fisherman, Henningsson found the recurved profile provided just enough "bite" to keep fishing line and net from sliding off the cutting edge. Combining the recurve with a slightly angled hollow grind created a utilitarian point and straight terminal cutting edge that are strong yet offer much better edge geometry than typical tanto points. This unique blade is housed in a handle that consists of a full-length backspacer, handle scales, and LinerLock mechanism, all machined from solid titanium and anodized a brilliant blue hue. Both scales are inlaid with carbon fiber inserts that mirror the graceful lines of the handle profile. To allow easy attachment of a fob or lanyard, the backspacer extends beyond the butt end of the scales and offers a generous lanyard hole. A reversible stainless steel clip attaches to either side of the pivot-pin end of the knife, providing convenient, ambidextrous, tip-down carry. An amazing fusion of artistic expression and utilitarian function, the Vrango is as practical as it is beautiful.

kinda quirky, but incredible build quality
Incredible build quality. People keep calling Vrango a gentleman's folder, but I'm using mine everyday. The blade shape is way more functional than I expected. It literally pulls what you're cutting into the blade. The handle has some amazing two-toned finish and some of the nicest milling details I've seen since the Slysz bowie. Despite the milling, there are still some edges that are quite sharp. I think these will soften with time. Also the clip, while completely functional, is rather plain and has really strong tension over the carbon fiber inlays. Overall, very interesting and functional design that's been discontinued, so I'd suggest grabbing one and putting it to use!

Off the beaten path
Vrango is a small knife with amazing fit and finish. Really useful blade shape and just generally, a unique look overall. Really nicely finished titanium handles with nice chamfering and anodizing. It actually begs to be used, not just delegated as a gentleman's carry. Tip-down (only) clip could be more elegant, but it really lines up with your middle finger when grasping the handle. Some edges on the handle are a little sharp even though they are chamfered- yes Taichung's machining is that precise! Overall this is a really sweet little knife that's getting discontinued by Spyderco, so get it while you can!!

Beautifully finished
Fit and finish of this knife is outstanding! The anodized blue finish looks even better in person. The carbon fiber inserts are inset flush with the sides, with no gaps. Blade is huge looking for a smaller knife, but functions great. No regrets with this purchase from KC.
