SP201TIBLP: C201TIBLP Vrango
Designed by award-winning Swedish custom knifemaker Michael Henningsson, the Spyderco Vrango is an extremely practical cutting tool with a distinctive aesthetic style. Named for the small island in the Gothenburg archipelago of Sweden that Henningsson calls home, the Vrango's most distinctive feature is its uniquely shaped CPM S30V stainless steel blade, which uses a deep hollow grind to yield an Americanized tanto-style tip and a slightly recurved primary edge. As an avid fisherman, Henningsson found the recurved profile provided just enough "bite" to keep fishing line and net from sliding off the cutting edge. Combining the recurve with a slightly angled hollow grind created a utilitarian point and straight terminal cutting edge that are strong yet offer much better edge geometry than typical tanto points. This unique blade is housed in a handle that consists of a full-length backspacer, handle scales, and LinerLock mechanism, all machined from solid titanium and anodized a brilliant blue hue. Both scales are inlaid with carbon fiber inserts that mirror the graceful lines of the handle profile. To allow easy attachment of a fob or lanyard, the backspacer extends beyond the butt end of the scales and offers a generous lanyard hole. A reversible stainless steel clip attaches to either side of the pivot-pin end of the knife, providing convenient, ambidextrous, tip-down carry. An amazing fusion of artistic expression and utilitarian function, the Vrango is as practical as it is beautiful.

Vrango nitpicks
Blue color is darker than illustration but still lovely. Knife is smaller than it appears & feels smaller. I have other small knives but the handles fill my hand better. The clip is long & helps in grasping as the indent fits my middle finger but I wish it was anodized blue or colored black to better match handle. The worst nitpick is that the lockbar is thin and there is no cutout so closing the knife is hard & the thin sharp bar cuts into your thumb. I still am happy with the knife although Spyderco products have become exceedingly overpriced & I rarely purchase them anymore.

An amazing blend of old and new...
Perfect size and weight to carry but cuts like no one's business! Too bad this one is getting discontinued. If you need a lightweight blade that can cut like the big boys, you're looking at a fine example. Elegant and wicked.

Unusual Design, beautifully crafted.
This little knife is a real work of art, almost too pretty to use as an EDC. I like the unusual blade shape as well as the anodized titanium and carbon fiber handle. I put it in my EDC rotation with my Dragonfly, as they’re close to the same size, although the Vrango is much heavier. Spyderco did a beautiful job executing this design.
