SP229CFP: C229CFP Shaman Sprint Run

Spyderco's first Sprint Run Shaman elevates this workhorse design with a satin-finished blade crafted from Crucible CPM-S90V and stunning solid carbon fiber scales. The radiused edges of the scales ensure an exceptionally comfortable grip, while highlighting the beautiful layered construction of the carbon fiber material. Skeletonized stainless steel liners nested within the scales provide outstanding structural strength for the knife and its Compression Lock mechanism, while providing a solid anchor for its polished, four-position pocket clip.

Spyderco Sprint Runs are limited edition production runs of items not found in their standard product line. They may be unique versions of current knives or special expressions of discontinued designs. Every Sprint Run is a unique, one-time-only event available in 600 or 1,200 pieces. Once that knife is sold out it will not be produced again in that exact form.

The Way the Shaman Should Have Been In the First Place!
I bought 2 previous versions of the Shaman, one with the stonewash blade and one with the black blade (both plain edge). Overall I was happy with them, but definitely thought there was room for improvement:1. I don't care for stonewash as a finish for the blade on my knives. It's not a deal-breaker (I have a few other knives with that finish), but I prefer a satin/saber grind type of finish. (Just like the look more!)2. G-10 handles are so...blah! They are used as a VERY common material for pocket knife handles, so I like it when a knife comes in a different kind of handle material, especially carbon fiber!3. More exotic blade steel! Most knives tend to come in more common blade steels like S30V, etc. The more premium/exotic the steel, the better! In this sprint run, it gives all the things that I wanted to see in the Shaman! Compared to the other previous versions, it also opens easier/smoother. The compression lock, while being a pretty decent lock, still takes some getting use to and isn't my preferred type. Other people have commented that the Shamans problem is that small bit that sticks out a little from the base of the blade from the compression lock when it's closed/being closed. This can cause the knife not to fully close by hitting your finger when closing it, but if done fast enough you can still move your finger to close it. It's a small, nit-picky thing to complain about, and that I don't, but I can see how others would. Overall I think this is a great version of it and can't help but give 5 stars.Unfortunately, it is a sprint run, meaning that there were only so many of these made and will not be offered again, so it'll be hard to get/available for a limited time! Last thing of note, I don't know why it's hard to get Pre-orders/Sprint Runs from Knifecenter (and indeed did have it on Pre-order with them), but they never seem to get these orders filled/completed and have to end up going somewhere else to get the item, like I did for this one. Why is that Knifecenter? Otherwise I do try to order from you guys when I can.
